Thirty Five Days

"So what, you're not allowed to come to our band practise any more? How are we supposed to know how good we sound without any feedback?"

Matt and Chris had taken the news of me being grounded almost worse than I had. Typically though, Matt still seemed more concerned about how it would affect him more than me. Mikey had been very quiet through my mumbled explanation and so I turned to him for support.

"Listen, it's not my fault my stupid mother thinks I'm not focussed enough on the fucking exams. Anyway, I'm not the only person who ever went to your stupid rehearsals so why don't you ask Mikey if he wants to give you your precious feedback?!"


A few people turned to look at us as I spoke, and it suddenly occurred to me that we had been speaking rather loudly, especially for the time of the morning. Mikey, on the other hand, had looked away uncomfortably as soon as I mentioned his name.

"Actually Frank that's not a bad idea," Chris said slowly, as if he were genuinely thinking over my words.

"Yeah, how about it Mikey? D'you wanna come to Dom's after school with Chris and I and listen to us practise?"

They were both looking at Mikey as if they'd never really seen him before, which they almost hadn't given the amount of time they spent with him.

"Oh, er... I actually think I've got quite a bit of homework to do and, er, my grandma said something about being busy tonight so I think I should probably just head home."

The bell rang before any of us had a chance to respond to Mikey but that didn't stop Matt muttering under his breath, presumably about Mikey and I, as we went to our different classes.

So, Mikey said you got grounded apart from the concert? That's a shame because I had a list of things to do with you, and some great evenings planned. Gx

The text from Gee had arrived while I was having dinner but I hadn't been able to answer it until I was back in my room, just in case my mum got even more pissed with me.

Yeah my mum was pissed that i hadnt told her where i was last night. Im sure we could manage something though - ill just skip a couple of classes. And at least i can still get to the concert. XoxoFrnk

I was more than happy to skip class to spend time with Gee, and if I did it carefully not even Mikey would know about it.

Tut, tut Frankie, you shouldn't be missing classes just before your exams. Not that I don't want to see you, of course. Gx

Well maybe ill just skip my study class on wednesday afternoons. Youre still free wednesdays right? xoxoFrnk

Technically I was supposed to attend the registered study class last thing on a Wednesday but it's not as if I would be doing any studying anyway.

Alright then, if you're sure. How much time will we have to do this? Gx

Even though I knew I was sitting alone in my bedroom I could feel the stupidest smile on my face as I read his text.

Maybe two hours, just so im back in time for my mum coming home. xoxoFrnk

I'm so sorry this wasn't up sooner - I got logged out of my account and it's taken me this long to get back into it! Anyway, it's up now and I'm pretty settled in my new university routine so uploads should be much more frequent (weekly as far as possible).
