Best Friend-zilla's

Frank's P.O.V.

“It just didn’t work mate let it go.” I told Gerard as we worked towards Forbidden Planet, hoping we remembered the directions properly.
“But why not?” He looked over at me causing me to groan out. We’d been through last night 4 times about how the date just didn’t work. I missed out the part that the drop dead gorgeous cherry haired Ruby dropped me back off at the hotel. In my defence I tell Gerard everything, even most things that I probably shouldn’t, but if he knew about this then he would just go on and on about trying to find her, and that’s not what was going to happen. We saved each other from dire situations, it was a friendly gesture of two strangers.
“Gerard I don’t know what to tell you to get this conversation to end but can we please pretend that I’ve said it already so it can?” I looked over at him practically pleading with him. I was getting desperate and was about to tweet out our location just so he would shut up. We finally made it to the store which should have took us 20 minutes but after looking at my watch I realised it took us 50.
“You can start by telling me the redhead in the beetle that brought you back?” He looked over at me smirking as he held the door open for me, lowering his tone once we’d got inside.
“How do you know?” I whispered harshly at him glaring at him.
“I was smoking outside.” He smirked walking down one of the shelf filled aisles, browsing at his choice.
“Well nothing happened. The date was horrific and so was hers we made excuses for each other and got out quickly. She brought me to the hotel because you jackasses left me in the middle of nowhere. That’s it. Do the others know?” I asked quickly as he shook his head, thumbing through the book he’d picked up, relaxing a bit I picked up the latest issue of Batman.

“Oh my god pick one so we can leave.” I heard someone moan as I turned the corner to go down the next aisle.
“You know you can’t rush me. I have to decide carefully.” A female voice responded as the other groaned.
“I will do you a deal. I will buy you everything in the basket and your hand if we can go now.” The first female voice spoke harshly.
“Why do you want to leave so badly it’s not as though you’re meeting anyone is it?” The other girl, who I could see the back of was ginger and average height. She had a floral skirt on with a berry blazer and ankle boots.
“Low blow. I am too hot in here, I need a coffee and more importantly I need a cigarette.” The first girl spoke; I couldn’t see her so I was assuming the ginger girl was taller than her blocking my view. I’d got to the part of the aisle where I was a few inches away from them, the ginger one still deciding as I heard a few footsteps and that’s when the other girl came into my view. She was shorter than her friend and was wearing black skinny jeans, a tank top and a pair of converse that had seen better days. It was the cherry red hair that caught my attention to her though. I stood there slightly gobsmacked that Ruby was stood there in front of me. She looked in my direction and I noticed the shock on her face as she saw me staring at her, I saw her glance at her friend before smiling and raising her hand to wave to me, me mirroring her actions causing her to blush.

“Who are you waving at?” The ginger one asked as I saw her cheeks get redder snapping her attention to her. I quickly put the Star Wars book up to my face in case she didn’t want her friend knowing.
“No one, I’m miming for you to let me out of this place Maddie.” She tried to recover but it was too late, she’d turned round just at the time Gerard walked down the aisle.
“Dude what are you doing?” Gerard asked walking down to me quickly laughing.
“Shut up shut up shut up.” I whispered at him, the book still in my face.
“What why?” He questioned me finally reaching my side.
“Oh my god is this a friend of yours you’re trying to hide from me Ruby?” This Maddie asked as I heard the clicking of her heels getting louder in my direction. And that’s when Gerard looked over at the two girls and the biggest smirk passing over his lips as he snatched the book out of my hands and there I was face to face with her blushing one.
“You must be Ruby? I’ve heard so much about you!” Gerard smiled holding his hand out to her smirking as she looked over at me questioningly, me shaking my head quickly.
“That’s funny because I’ve heard nothing about him?” Maddie turned to look at Ruby with the same look she was showing me.
“I… erm… I… this is Frank.” She stuttered out holding her hand out to me, “This is Maddison.” She held her hand towards Madison who smiled at me.
“How do you guys know each other?” Madison directed the question at me this time, causing what I’m sure to be a deer in headlights look cover my face.
“Oh you don’t know? They played knights in shinning armours to each other last night whilst they were both on different dates? Thanks for making sure he got home safely.” Gerard spoke, the shit eating smirk still on his face as I saw Maddie turn her shock face to her best friend.
“Wow you’re a dick.” I mumbled to Gerard.
“You mean you ditched the guy I set you up with?” She asked her shaking her head.
“He was an arsehole Maddie. I can’t even say in a nice way. He was a first class ass.” She told her truthfully.
“We will talk later.” She scolded her like a child, a playful underlying tone though.
“Please allow me to buy you a drink to say thanks for the safe return of young Frank here. The both of you of course.” Gerard looked between them both, his eyes lingering on Maddie for a while longer.
“I really should get back to work,” Ruby started off but getting stopped by Maddie.
“Of course. Works been cancelled remember?” She gave her a swift elbow to the arm as Gerard just nodded and took Maddie’s basket off her walking over to the till.

“I’m so sorry.” We both said to each other at the same time, causing us both to laugh quietly so our best friend-zilla’s wouldn’t hear.
