The Kids From Yesterday

Chapter Twenty Nine - The Amount Of Friends I'm Making

RAY'S POV

I knocked on the Way's front door, checking the time. It was eleven thirty. Me and the others were going out for lunch, to somewhere other than the coffee shop. Don't get me wrong, the coffee shop is great, its the best in town, but we always eat there.
This was the first time we'd all be going somewhere other than the coffee shop because Gerard wasn't working. He'd been given ip to six months off because of Mr Way's death. This was the first I'd seen of him since the funeral. Frank said he was back to his old self.
I really hoped so.

It was Frank who answered the door, and i hugged hil tightly when he did. He hugged back. It was the first i'd seen of him since the funeral, too, since he was literally always with Gerard.
"Its good to see ya, Ray." Frank said, pulling away and grinning.
"You too, buddy." I smirked, slapping his arm. "How's Gerard?"
"Oh, hes much better. You'd be surprised."
I laughed in agreement.
I had to admit, as selfish as it sounds, i felt kind of left out. Mikey Gerard and Frank had all been seeing each other twenty four seven. Frank had been helping Mikey too, apparently.
Ah, Mikey. I missed him the most. I thiught of him like a little brother. He was so small and innocent.
A smol bean, as many teenagers nowadays would say.
Frank led me up the stairs to Mikey's room. He opened the door and let me in first. Mikey and Gerard were in there, both sitting on the floor looking up at the TV as they played GTA.
They both looked up, paused the game, and got up. Mikey hugged me first, squeezing me tightly. I hugged him back.
"Hey Mikes. How are you?"
"I'm good. Much better." He smiled as he pulled away. Then Gerard hugged me.
"I've missed you, man." He said, and i laughed.
"I've never heard you call anyone "man" before."
He laughed too, pulling away.
"It's really great to see you, Ray."
"I know, everyone keeps reminding me." They all laughed, and it was so nice to see Gerard and Mikey laugh again. The last time i'd seen them they'd both been complete messes.
"I was really worried about you guys." I confessed, and they both smiled apolagetcially.
"Well, we're fine now." Gerard said.

We all caught the bus into town, talking about anything and everything. New music, new books, comics, new TV shows. We just generally had a lot of catching up to do. We ended up going to McDonald's. We had a great time, and we all spent it smiling, laughing, and not shutting up. It was the happiest I'd felt in just over two months.
I realised, as we were all chatting and laughing at the table, these guys are the best and only friends I had. I made a promise to myself that I'd never let them leave my life.

Notes

Sorry, I had to use some slang at least once. It was "smol bean", if you didn't realise.
So for most of this chapter my autocorrect decided to stop working, so sorry if there are any typos, I did my best to avoid them.
And, again, sorry its so short. I know the emotional pain of not enough fanficton, I'm just lazy.
Anyway, enjoy!
