Look Alive, Sunshine

Party Poison and Fun Ghoul

The girl who had sat in the back of the car almost startled Party Poison, yet he chose to remain silent and stoic. Fun Ghoul seemed almost interested in helping her, even though he knew nothing about her. Surely, she could have come from BLI, or maybe she had something to do with them-
“Where did you come from?” Fun Ghoul asked her gently.
The girl grimaced. “Battery City.” She thrust her backpack off her shoulder and onto the seat next to her. “Glad I finally got out of there,” she finally said, beaming.
Fun Ghoul furrowed his brows. “What...were you doing there?” Concern crossed his face for the first time.
The girl sighed again. “I was stuck there...My parents...supported...BLI…”
“What?” Party Poison cried at last. “How?”
The girl shrank back, yet her face was still cross. “They wanted me to take those goddamn pills, so I left. Destroyed the capsules on the way out of the city.” A crazed smile appeared on her face. “I left every part of them behind. Lost my name, my love, my...everything…”
“So who are you now?” Fun Ghoul asked, grinning. He was trying to test her.
She sighed. “I changed my name...to Glass Aconite.”
Fun Ghoul clapped his hands together twice, a meager way of applauding her. Party Poison watched his eyes drift to her waist, where a violet ray gun was being held in place by a black leather belt. “I like it.”
Party Poison drove the car to a jerky stop in the middle of the road. “Stop talking,” he whispered harshly.
“Why?” Glass Aconite moaned.
“Yeah, what is it now?” Fun Ghoul asked.
Party Poison silently pushed his dangling red bangs out of his eyes, tucking them behind his ear. “Draculoids,” he muttered, seeing several white silhouettes marching across the wasteland. He swiftly pulled his yellow mask over his eyes, watching Fun Ghoul do the same. Party Poison turned to Glass. “You have a mask, don’t you?”
“Yes…” she mumbled, reaching it from the pocket in her leather jacket. It was purple, but the color had faded, resulting in a muted lilac color.
“So put it on! You don’t want to die today, do you?” She frowned, before slipping it over her eyes and reaching for her ray gun.
The Draculoids grew closer, and Party Poison prepared to fire. Suddenly, he heard the sound of a gunshot, but it was not from the Draculoids. Glass had shot down one of them, yet they started running closer.
“Is she insane?” Party Poison asked Fun Ghoul.
“I don’t care!” he cried, shooting along with her. He smiled. “Give her your gun.”
“Why?”
“So you can drive!” he shouted, reaching with his leg to hit the gas pedal. Their thighs touched, distracting Party Poison. His foot shot down on the pedal as he tossed Glass his gun.
“Can you use two?” he asked her.
“I can try,” she said, smiling. The rain of bullets never ceased as Fun Ghoul and Glass Aconite plowed down the Draculoids, with only the occasional shot dinging against the trunk of the car. Slowly it stopped as the last Draculoid collapsed.
Party Poison turned back to Glass Aconite. “So, how much did you say you hated BLI?” She grinned proudly, her slightly crazed smile serving as a satisfactory answer.
The sunset streaked across the sky as the car pulled up at the diner at last. Glass rubbed at her eye once before stepping out of the car. “Where are we?” she asked.
“Zone Six,” Fun Ghoul said. “Go in there, get settled. We’ll be there in a minute.” He grinned at Party Poison. The girl said nothing as she reached for her pack and left.
Party Poison latched onto Fun Ghoul’s shoulder as they got out of the car. “You genius,” he whispered.
“What do you mean?” Fun Ghoul asked, grinning. “Thought you didn’t want to take her.”
“That was before you figured out that she was fucking insane!” Party Poison said, smiling and pecking Fun Ghoul’s cheek. “So she will be joining us more.”
Fun Ghoul smiled. Clearly, he was happy for her. “Should I let her know now?”
Party Poison beamed. “Let it wait. She needs rest, you need rest…”
Fun Ghoul rolled his eyes. “And you?” he asked, pushing him away.
“I’ll be right here.” Fun Ghoul smiled, walking away. Party Poison turned back to the car, to look for his gun. It wasn’t in the back seat. He smiled. Glass had taken it.

Notes

I may try to include more Frerard because it is one of my favorite ships. However, it's not going to be completely central to the story just yet as I still need to work on introducing more characters, as well as an antagonist...
Enjoy the second chapter!
