.The.Iero.Dinner.

My ass was itching from the tights I wore. They were too tight, causing red patterns on my skin. I shifted in my seat a bit, wincing.

My mother kept talking to the nurse, wasting my time. She kept looking over at me, then back at her friend, laughing at what she said. I sighed and looked down at my watch, wishing she was done talking.

"But I guess he'll never change. Men like that don't run by the rules."

"That's why they're the kind girls go after, they're bad boys." I heard my mother say as I walked up to them.

"Um, ma, we got dinner with the neighbors at six, it's four now." My mothers eyes bulged.

"So sorry Amy, I have to go. I'll catch you later?" My mother asked, nurse Amy nodded.

I rushed my mother to the car, anxious to get home. "When we get home, started cleaning the house a bit, I'll start on the food." She said. I nodded in reply, knowing that I wouldn't have to clean up much since we both hated messes.

Once home, we both ran inside and got straight to working. I made sure there was not trash, shoes, and clothes were thrown around. I dusted anything on our shelves in our living room and fixed the pillows on our couches. While I moved things around, I found one of Gerard's beloved comic books under our coffee table.

I looked down at my watch again and cursed. "I guess he'll have to come over tomorrow." I said to myself, positioning the comic on the coffee table next to our remotes.

I dashed to me room, rechecking that everything was clean. "Mom I'm gonna get ready now!!"

"Ok! Hurry up!"

Locking my door behind me, I scurried around my room, gathering items to help me get ready. I took a fast shower and wrapped a towel around my soaked hair and dried my body as quickly as a could.

"I'm gonna get ready!" My mother yelled as she scurried past my room.

I dressed in black jeans and Mikey's Smashing Pumpkins shirt that he left in my room. I quickly applied some makeup and took off the towel around my hair. Grabbing my boots, I sped walked out of my room and towards the kitchen.

"Hey, you wanna go to-"

"Holy fuck you scared me!"

"Sorry, The door was open so I- isn't that Mikey's shirt?"

I didn't look at Gerard as I gathered the fine china of dinner plates. He followed behind me putting napkins and cups out as I set up the table. "Yea, he left it here last time and it's the only shirt I found within reach."

"Who's coming over?" He asked finishing setting up the last table spot.

"The new neighbors. Mother invited them to dinner this morning and now we're in a hurry because my mother decided to talk to Nurse Sally about the new soap opera episode."

Gerard laughed. "She sure loves those things." He helped me clean up the kitchen a bit, putting away the clean dishes. "So I guess you can't hang out."

"I don't think so. Why? What were you thinking of doing?"

"There's a show downtown. Ten dollars at the door, but if you bring a girl then it's a free entrance." I scoffed.

"So you only asked to use me? Shame. I'm not even gonna get anything out of it too." I laughed.

"You'd be getting a night out with Mr. Way, how is that not something?"

"I-"

"Gerard?" My mother said coming into the kitchen as she put on some earrings, "hi! How are you? What are you doing here?" She hugged him, smiling at him.

"Hi Grace, I just came to invite Wyatt out, but it seems that she's busy." He said shyly. He always avoid the question of how he was doing. He always considered that as a personal question.

"She is, we're having dinner with the new neighbors." She said looking at him, "maybe some other time, okay?"

Gerard nodded, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'll see you tomorrow, Wyatt. Goodnight, Grace."

"Goodnight, Grace."

"I'll walk you out." I quickly said following behind him.

Once outside with the front door closed, Gerard turned to me, pouting. "This sucks."

"I know, but like she said, I'll see you tomorrow extra early." I said smiling.

"Leave your window open tonight, I'm coming over." He said over his shoulder as he walked away.

"Sure thing! Bring some candy!"

I started to go inside the house when a warm voice stopped me. It startled me at first but then quickly soothed me. It was a females voice that was calm and a little bit high, but it was enough to tell them this lady always smiled.

"Hi, um, is this the Colombo residents?"

I turned and looked at a lady along with her son. She wore a flower dress with a cardigan, along with creams flats on her feet. She had dark hair, fair olive skin with rosy lips and cheeks. In her hands she held a container with brownies.

Her son dressed in blue jeans with a black shirt. His dreads gave him away as Frank. His own rosy lips smiled at me also, making his cheeks have a tint in them too. His eyes were breathtaking. I was captivated by him.

"Yes ma'am, my mother is inside finishing up some touches. Come on in." I politely said allowing them to go inside first.

"I'm Linda and I'm sure you already met my son, Frank." She said shaking my hand as Frank took the brownies out of her grasp. "Oh! And thank you for letting us use your tools. We lost ours durning the move." She laughed.

I giggled along. "It's no problem. I'm Wyatt and as I told Frank, you can keep them for as long as you need. I can help you guys if you want."

"That would be great! We got some furniture to do an-"

"Oh hello! I'm Grace Colombo, Wyatt's mother." She shook Linda's hand. "Wyatt, take Frank to the kitchen where he can sit the dessert down, please."

I saluted her and nodded my head towards the kitchen to Frank. He followed behind me and waited for me to make some room for him to put the brownies down.

"We should've asked you'd guys first but are you guys vegetarians or anything like that?" I asked him, watching him lean on our kitchen counter.

"Actually, I Uhhh recently turned vegetarian, well it's been a year and a half, give or take." He said playing with on of his dreads.

"Great! I'm a vegetarian, but not by choice. Im just making sure you guys are okay with the food," I said grinning at him, "wait, is your mom-"

"She's cool with it. As long as it's healthy, she's fine with it."

The kitchen phone rang, interrupting our conversation. I sighed and walked over to it, excusing myself to Frank, who watched me from across the room.

"Hell-"

"WYATT!!"

I cringed at Mikey's yells, grimacing as my eardrums exploded then and there. "Yes, Hi Majestic Mikey, what do you want?"

"OK SO CHECK THIS OUT!"

"Please don't scream, my ears are bleeding!"

"SHUT UP AND LISTEN!" I bit my tongue and groaned, knowing he wasn't going to tone it down at all. "WHY DID YOU NOT COME WITH US?! I ASKED A GIRL OUT! A GIRL!"

I instantly became happy. Mikey has never had the balls to talk to a girl, it took him two years to actually talk to me. "That's great Mikes!-"

"Listen! Okay so I asked this girl out hoping that you'd tag along and kinda... You know, mellow her out a bit. That's why Gerard went to snatch you up, but he came back empty handed! Now he's third wheeling and it's NOT cool! He's telling her embarrassing things, Wyatt! Can you please save me? Reschedule whatever you are doing!"

Mikey kept rambling on and on. I looked at Frank and made hand signals for him to hand me a little piece of aluminum foil. He stood next to me, waiting for my next moves.

"-even told her about my third grade accident! I can't-"

"Crresssshhh cresshhhh So-ey-m-kie-" I said, trying to fake a bad connection. Frank got the aluminum from my grasp and helped me. "C-nt-tmr-ow-c-bye-"

Hanging up, I giggled and highfived Frank. "Ex-boyfriend?"

"No, best friend. He rambles a lot.", knowing that I'm busy." I laughed. "Thanks for helping me, static."

He smiles at me, his eyes twinkling under our kitchen light. "No problem at all," he said. He walked to the cooked food that sat on the stove to cool off a bit. "So, what's for dinner?"

I looked over to see my mother and Linda hitting it off. "Uhh, I think my mother made Lasagna with homemade Italian breadsticks and well, you guys saves us from making dessert."

Frank laughed, "I think my mom hit it off with yours." He followed my eyes to where our mothers sat and laughed. "It's nice to know that she has a friend around this new place."

"Yea, I agree. Wait until your mother meets Donna." I said, "No, wait until YOU meet Donna."

He looked at me and tilted his head unsure. "Why? Should I prepare myself?"

I laughed and shook my head. "Just wait until you meet her. I can already tell you'll be her favorite."
