He's Not Dead, He Only Looks that Way.
“Hold her down.”
There was nothing they could do for Jenna. She was stumbling and in pain. All anyone could do was help her walk even if her legs weren’t damaged-a part of her was damaged. Davy did his best to comfort her, but it seemed the ordeal traumatize her. Jenna murmured curse words until Frank stopped in his tracks. Everyone stopped behind him. Frank turned to Jenna, “Those wings are dead weight.”
Everyone fell silent.
Gerard looked at Frank, “What are you saying?”
“I’m saying those broken wings on Jenna’s back are slowing her down.”
Jenna stood her ground, “So? At least I’m walking.”
Frank tightened his jaw, “You’re slowing us down.”
Again, silence.
Everyone knew what Frank was suggesting. Davy stepped in front of Jenna, “No.” He growled toward Frank, “She’s already in pain.”
Frank said, “We don’t have much choice.”
Jenna looked at Gerard for help. If anyone could influence Frank, it was him. Gerard inched close to Frank, “We don’t need to do anything, Frank .. stop putting yourself before everyone else. She’s in pain-why would you want to add more?”
Frank paused. He looked at Gerard, “I .. I don’t know.”
Gerard frowned, “We’re going to keep walking to wherever you’re heading [without] hurting Jenna any further.”
Frank nodded slowly, “Ok.”
But as hours passed, the wounds on Jenna’s wings were getting infected. It was only hurting her even more. She collapsed out of Davy’s arms and cried. Gerard tucked in his lips and kneeled by her side. Frank wanted to say, “I told you so” but it wasn’t the right time. Not only did she collapse which slows them down, but she was in even more pain.
Davy and Gerard looked at each other. They knew what had to be done. Gerard mumbled, “Okay, Frank-you win.”
Frank nodded, “Hold her down.”
Davy kissed Jenna’s cheek, “Relax.” He grabbed her wrists and held them together as Gerard held onto her legs. Frank can see the pain and fear in Jenna’s eyes as he held his cane against her fragile wings. A blinding light made Jenna scream and cry out, flailing her body. Her wings disintegrated. Davy held her down as hard as he could but she still managed to let loose, just in time when he wings were completely gone and faded into ash. Gerard let her go. She was on all fours on the dirt with tears streaming down her face. Frank took a step back, keeping his eyes on the weeping angel.
