He's Not Dead, He Only Looks that Way.

“I’m going to be okay,”

Davy pulled up onto the dirt next to the house. Patrick had no hesitation to get out of the car and run toward the house. Just before he could enter the house, Lindsey appeared and wrapped her arms around him. They hugged for a long moment, embracing each other’s touch and remembering each other’s scent. Patrick could feel his heart flutter as his face dug into Lindsey’s hair. Lindsey tightened her grip on him, “I missed you so much.” Patrick tried not to cry, “I missed you too.”

Davy watched the two from the driver’s seat. He wanted that. He wanted to remember what it was like to wrap your arms around the one you love. He tucked in his lips before shutting his eyes, leaning his head against the the seat. He took in a deep breath, “I miss you so much.” The slight memory of Jenna appeared in his mind.

Chicago 1998

Jenna knocked softly on the door of 21 year old Davy’s apartment. They’ve been together for two months now. Their love was striving. Jenna entered Davy’s home and softly kissed his cheek. She smiled lightly before Davy grabbed her by the waist and gave her a deep kiss, laughing through it. Jenna giggled, “Seems like you’re happy to see me.”

“I’m always happy to see you.” Davy bit her lower lip, “Really happy.”

Jenna rolled her eyes with a smile, “Shut up .. anyway, what’s today’s date plan?”

Davy sarcastically said, “I was thinking of a walk along the beach until we get on a white horse and gallop into the sunset,”

Jenna laughed, “You’re my knight in shining armor?”

“I’ll be whatever you want me to be,” Davy held her hand and his smile faded, “No, but really. I know you’d rather not go out much since the death of your father.” He led her down the hallway into his room, “Welcome to heaven, my love.”

Jenna awed at the sight of warm blankets, a cracked window that allowed the cold air to sink in the room, and the pepperoni pizza that laid on the bed. Davy went behind her and softly kissed her neck, “There’s also mountain dew.” He continued kissing her neck, “You deserve more, but this is all I can do.”

Jenna swung around and stood on her tippy toes to kiss him, “This is perfect.”

They spent together watching comedy movies, laughing beside each other. The pizza was soon gone, the mountain dew in the bottle drained, and the cold air turned warm. Jenna was touching Davy's white plugs, and was admiring his dimples. Davy wrapped his arms around Jenna and reeled her in, “You want a cig?”

“Not now,” Jenna said, staring into his eyes. She leaned in and kissed his lips, drawing him over her body. He deepened the kiss, tasting the cig she had smoked before. He begun to breath heavily as he hovered over her body, “I want to make you feel good,” He leaned into her shoulder and kissed it before moving his head up to her neck. He nibbled it softly before kissing it. He collided his tongue, sending shivers down Jenna’s body.

Davy groped her breasts and moaned, “Get on top, baby.”

Jenna gave no hesitation to move him onto his back. She climbed on him and stared into his dark blue eyes, “You’re so .. amazing.” The room turned hot, the bed creaked, and moans escaped both their mouths. Hands were exploring each other’s body. Davy’s mouth touched Jenna’s vagina, making Jenna’s face burn hot.

An hour later, the room grew quiet. Davy sat up on the bed and Jenna was smoking a cig in bed. She smiled at Davy before getting up from the bed bare naked. Davy grinned before following her, “Where you going?”

“You’ll follow either way, won’t you?” She walked around before pausing, noticing an unfamiliar box in the living room. She raised a brow and hesitantly opened it. She slammed her hand over her mouth when she saw the cocaine and bloody razor. Davy snatched it, “I stopped-don’t worry.”

Jenna frowned, “Why do you have it?”

“I had some problems-before I met you .. please don’t think any less of me.”

Jenna looked at him before sighing. She grabbed him and held him close, “I don’t think any less of you.” She buried her face into his chest. Davy smiled softly, “How did I get so lucky?”

Davy opened his eyes to see Gerard walking toward the car. He remained in his seat as Gerard made his way to the other side, to the passenger seat. He opened the car door and sat down, “What’s up Davy?”

Davy raised a brow, “What’s up with your voice?”

“You seem troubled.” Gerard said, ignoring Davy’s question. Davy sighed. He unbuckled his seat to let his chest have some air, “You know what sucks? Seeing everyone fall in love. First you and Frank, Lindsey and Patrick-I feel like Frey and I are the only ones left.”

Gerard gave an awkward smile, “She has a girlfriend now.”

Davy rolled his eyes, “Now I’m the only one left.”

Gerard grinned, “I can give you someone-”

“What? No. There’s only person I want and you know that.”

Brendon did know that-it had slipped his mind. But he couldn’t just snatch Jenna from heaven without having angels trying to intervene. Brendon paused, “There’s nothing else you desire?”

Davy rose a brow, “What’s up with you?” Davy locked eyes with him. He leaned back a bit, “Your vibes are .. different. Are you .. feeling well?” Davy’s words had stopped suddenly. He tucked in his lower lip, “I don’t want any trouble, whoever you are-because you sure as hell aren’t Gerard.”

“What makes you think I’m someone else?”

“Gerard knows me well. He wouldn’t ask such a dumb question about my desires .. but he already knows what I want.”

Brendon smiled, “You’re pathetic, you know? You’re obsessed over this one girl. Do you realize what a guy with your looks could gain? You’re hung over this girl who probably hates you because of what you’ve done.” Brendon laughed, “Do I need to remind you what you did? You fucking burned her .. listen, my friend, you were always my favorite demon.” He locked eyes with Gerard, “There was nothing else you wanted in price for your eternity of living as a demon-which was stupid.”

Davy’s eyes widen a bit, “I’ve never told anyone that before-you’re .. you’re him, aren’t you? How did you-you’re dead.”

“I was.”

“Brendon-I-”

Brendon hushed him with Gerard’s lips, “Don’t apologize. I just need you to give into me, friend.”

Davy shook his head, “I can’t betray-”

“Name your price.”

“You know you can’t-”

“I can’t, you’re right .. but there is something I could do. You can’t feel her or speak to her but .. you can see her-is that enough?”

Davy straightened his body, “What do you mean?”

The two left the car. Davy followed Gerard into the room where Frank wasn’t seen. Brendon can hear the shower on, assuming that Frank was taking one. So he opened his closet door and reached into the back. His hand grasped onto the cane hidden behind the clothes. He faced Davy, “If I do this, you will be by my side-do you understand?”

Images of Jenna flashed in his mind, “Yes, okay just-let me see her.”

A flash of white occured, blinding Davy. He flinched his body-until it shimmered down. He was standing in an unfamiliar place. The atmosphere was extremely bright, unusual. Davy noticed he was in a room with gold and white colors. He tucked in his lips, not knowing what do next.

The door swung open, and Jenna stepped in. She was looking down, panting hard. She tossed her hair back, showing her bright brown eyes that made Davy tear up. Davy, unable to stay on his feet, collapsed onto his knees. He stared at Jenna in disbelief. She didn’t seem to notice him, even if he was in the middle of the room. She looked, only to walk past him. She stood in front of the mirror, trying to gather herself together. Her mascara was running down her face, she seemed so agitated.

Davy asked, getting back on his feet, “Why are you crying?”

Jenna couldn’t hear him. She focused looking at herself in the mirror. She mumbled to herself, “I’m such a wreck.”

Davy walked behind her. He leaned down and kissed her neck-Jenna’s head shot up, and her hand slammed over the area Davy kissed. She swiftly turned around, seeing no one. She moved her arm down.

Davy stared at her, “You look the same .. beautiful.”

Jenna wiped her eyes before straightening out her white dress. She gathered herself together before mumbling once again, “I’m a wreck.”

Davy held back his tears, “Don’t say that-I’m broken, you’re a wreck, I think we’d make a perfect mess.” He laughed through tears, “Remember how I would always tell you that? And you’d always reply-”

“I’m going to be okay,” She said by the door.

“Yes, exactly-”

“I’m going to be okay.” She said again before opening the door and heading out.

“Wait-Jenna-” Davy’s eyes blanked before reappearing back into the same house he left. He frantically begged to Brendon, “Please, take me back-I need to see if she’s okay-”

“Another day.” Brendon said. He set his hand on Davy’s shoulder, “Another day.”
