Unapologetic Apathy
Blood Moon 3
The ritual went exactly as planned. Except that, instead of me turning human, I was thrown from the circle and sent twitching a few metres away. Frank rushed to me and started saying something, but I couldn't understand him. My muscles were rapidly tensing and twisting painfully. I could only manage a few stuttered words.
"I-I-I-it didn't fuck-fuck-fucking work," I gasped as I felt my throat tighten and my chest tense. My arms ans legs jerked violently, these quick painful movement. I threw my neck back and tried to concentrate on something.
Too much pain. My cramping muscles felt like I had been in a tight box for days with no room to breath. My eyes were unfocused and I couldn't hear anything. I heard Frank's voice, but I couldn't process the words he was saying. I couldn't even make a noise, it hurt so bad.
I tried again gain to focus on Frank. It had been a lot harder to face a rebound when I was alone, with nobody to help me through it. Basically, when a spell goes wrong, very thin you were tryin to change goes halfway there, and snaps back painfully, like the universe itself saying, "fuck you".
My stomach lurched and I started choking. I didn't need to breath, but the feeling made me panic. Frank flipped me over on my side, and I vomited blood all over the floor in front of me, on my suit, and all over my face. He turned me back over.
After eternity of quietly writhing in agony, I started to feel my muscles relax. I could feel my hands and control t limbs again. Every so often they violently twitched and it sent a shiver o pain down my spine, but I gritted my teeth and dealt with it. When my senses came back, I noticed I was lying down, onthe floor, with my head in Frank's lap. I shivered and curled in closer to him.
He pulled me upwards so I was sitting like him, back against the couch with my legs curled up by my side. I leaned my cheek in his bony shoulder. My mouth felt dry, and my throat was raw from retching. I couldn't talk, but i felt how hungry I was like a kick to the stomach.
I leaned my head closer to his neck at an awkward angle and made a few strangled gasping noises, hoping he got the message. He hesitated, then he tilted his neck so I could get a better access. I leaned over the rest of the way and bit down.
It felt heavenly, his hot blood running down my throat. I moaned into his neck at the feeling. I was so thirsty, and this tasted so good. Id forgot, since spending time with Frank, what it felt like to be living with a completely empty stomach. I cherished the feeling. But then something snapped me back into reality- that something being Frank Iero kicking me gently with his boot.
Somehow i I had ended up on top of him, so I was kneeling over him with our legs intertwined and sucking at his neck. I pulled away, dizzy with bloodlust. He gave me a look and jerked his head towards Sam, who was sitting up on the couch timidly. I immediately remembered everything, and it hit me like a flood.
Sam had colour in his cheeks now, but he was flushed with fever. He was sweaty and his eyes were human coloured: not clear like stained glass. The dark circles under his eyes were still there, but fading. His teeth were dull again. He still remained his posture, the one he'd developed as a vampire, the nervous hunch and his arms folded in tightly.
I crawled off Frank slowly, my head still spinning. I couldn't stand up just yet. I fell back down and sat where I was sitting before I bit Frank, with a sharp intake of breath. Everything ached still. Sam was staring at us with disbelief, and a little bit of concern and worry.
"Are you okay?" Sam asked me. I grunted a yes.
"Just a bit hungry," I admitted, "not all of us were so lucky." I winked at him, but it was cut off with another gasp of pain when a twitch went up my spine. "I'll survive."
"Are you sure you're alright?" Frank asked as he rubbed the spot at his neck where I bit him.
"Yeah. I've had worse. Once. Still hurts though," I winced. I bit my lip to hold in a noise.
"You should both get some rest," Frank said in a parental tons, strict but filled with love and concern. "If you're not okay to stay here, you're always welcome to spend the night at my place. You don't look okay."
"You'd let me?" I asked, and Frank nodded.
"I have to drop Sam off at his parents, first. We agreed beforehand that if this worked, he'd go home and explain EVERYTHING to his mom and dad. And take his sister, too."
"I'm going to get in so much trouble," Sam mumbled, "I shot my sister in the leg with a silver bullet and used her blood for a ritual. Then we kept her hostage in the base for a few weeks." He looked at the ground with a sad, nervous laugh. "I wish I could've turned her, but she wouldn't let me. I am in such deep shit."
"No kidding. Just try not to mention you've been hunting vampires the past two years instead f art class."
"Okay."
"If it's not to much trouble," I started when they were finished their conversation, "I would actually like to come." Sam raised an eyebrow in curiosity, but Frank shushed him before he said anything. I got up and pain shit through my legs, but I ignored it.
And i followed Frank and Sam to their secret base.
Frank pov
there was once a time I'd never invited a vampire to the base. It was a few blocks from our house, and a few blocks from Sam's. We stopped there first to drop Sam off with Ray, who would drive him home. When Ray got back we'd all carpool back to the house (this time along with Gerard).
Gerard looked curiously at the base. The metal door was hidden behind some bushes, in a staircase hat everyone seemed to forget about. I unlocked the door and it swung open to the biggest room, The one with the computer.
"Welcome to the base," I said to Gerard. He looked in awe at the computers we had. They were far from modern, but they were great computers.
Then Ray got out of the bathroom. He saw Sam and I, then he saw Gerard.
"What the fuck is he doing here?" He yelled at us. I explained.
"He's hurt. We tried to turn him back, so he's spending the night at our place." Gerard stood behind me looking unimpressed. I felt him twitch beside me every time another shock went through him, but they were getting less frequent now.
"Why can't he stay at his fucking mansion?" Ray sneered . "I am not. Having a vampire. Sleeping in the same house with me." Sam blinked. "Sorry Sam, I didn't mean t- oh my god. It worked." Ray was too but examining Sam to care any more. I led Gerard away from te drama.
"I'm not so sure I should give you the grand tour, given how they reacted at seein you in the front door. But," I led him to the kitchen. "This is the only other room in the house besides the closet and the bathroom. Kelsie should've even here, but I don't know where she is. Probably bake sale."
I noticed Gerard was drifting off into his own world, looking around with a worried tone.
"They won't hurt you, they're actually great people. They didn't hurt Sam," I assured him. He looked unsure.
"They know Sam," he argued.
"Well, then you can sleep in my room," I smirked. He blushed.
"Aren't you afraid that-"
I interrupted him. "Not anymore. In six months, you'll be human, and we can be together. If it's definitly happening in six months, what's the point in waiting? You're still the same person," I hummed as I pulled him closer. I threaded my arms up his back slowly and we stood there, in a hug, until Ray came in. We pulled away quickly and blushed a little.
"Where is- wait what the hell," Ray stammered. "Are you- are you-"
"What?" I asked. Gerard straightened up beside me and cleared his throat nervously. Ray just stood there shocked.
"I'm going to drop Sam off," he said slowly, eyeing both of us like we were potentially dangerous . He backed out of the kitchen slowly and left the base.
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Still don't want to tell them, then?" Gerard asked me.
"I'll do it on my own time," I told him.
Sam POV
I would have a better time appreciating humanity if Gerard and Frank weren't being so suspicious all the time . They were up to something. They were hiding something.
We we were at my house in no time. A small, yellow hous with a pretty garden. Me and my parents live there, with my sister dropping by from college whenever she can. Well, odds are she's at home with her leg bandaged, telling my parents the whole story. I sighed.
I thanked Ray and walked up the driveway to the door. It was unlocked. I walked in and called out for my mom and dad. Thy came running. Thy appeared around the hall, rushing towards me with tears in their eyes.
"You've been gone for a month!" My mom cries.
"Ehy didn't you leave a note or anything?" My dad says, pissed off but glad to see me. I just dtart crying, burying my face in their shoulders and decide to explain it next time I get the chancr.
NOOOO WHY DOES IT HAVE TO END :'(
