Unapologetic Apathy
Show You the Light
Ray and I set out the next night to find Harley, while Frank wen to the manor again. He said he had business with Gerard about Lyndsey, and preparing for the blood moon. Now, the entire team knew about the bloom moon, and we all ha separate roles. Kelsie was in charge of buyin the candles Gerard said they needed. Ray and I were trying to find Harley, my sire. Frank was helping Gerard set the rest up.
On The way home, Frank told me Gerard hid Lyndsey in the walls when he killed her. He also said he'd been there when he did it, an that he gave him first aid when she's burned him with silver. That was all he said on the subject, and I was growing suspicious. He was hiding something, I knew it.
Ray stopped the car and turned the engine off. I was zoned out, so I didn't expect to be here so fast. Ray hopped out of the car and skillfully his knives up his long sleeves, and took his silver rifle.
"We can't kill her, remember. Ray?" I reminded him, "we need her to turn me back." He nodded in response. Not killing vampires always was hard for him, but he said he would only hurt her a bit, so she couldn't run away or turn anyone else.
I swallowed nervously. All this time I wanted er dead, it was still hard. She was my sister. Before she was a vampire, she was my sister, I mean.
But I sort of get what she was thinking. I hated being what I was, but I still didn't want to die. She continued life just fine, and I stil didn't know how she did it. So she fuckin bit me, just to tell me how it felt. But somehow, I still didn't want her dead. But still, I couldn't get over my grudge against vampires, even though I was one now.
I followed Ray out of the car, into the dark parking lot. It was weird because I could still tell it was dark, though I could still see perfectly. Not even a street light cast any light. Ray didn't seem to notice it, he just shone his tiny keychain flashlight around. I forgot he couldn't see, and I also forgot how bright flashlights were. I flinched ad squinted to follow Ray across the parking lot, to behind an alley.
"She's here, I know it," he whisperred, barely audible, but I heard it clear as day with adrenaline in my veins. I looked around the alley, but the flashlight was distracting me.
"Turn your light off, I think I see something," I hissed, and Fay hesitated, but turned it off anyway. In the shadows, I saw the silhouettes of dumpster, trash bags, and....a person. "Harley," I said without thinking. It was her.
She looked up at me, and smiled. She held up a finger to tell me to wait, unaware that Ray was holding a gun to her. She reached into her pocket and got a lighter and a cigarette, and she put the cigarette between her lips. Ray reached into his pockets an pulled a pair of silver handcuffs out of his jacket pocket.
"Hi, Sammy," Harley greeted me with the cigarette dangling between her lips. "Trying again? I thought you would stop once you knew how it felt," she muttered. With the glow of the cigarette lighting a little around her face, I saw her blonde pony tail and white tshirt. Her eyes were a nice pale green colour, like mine, but smeared artfully with pale gold eyeshadow. It glummered a little when she smiled at me.
"I need to e turned back. You need to come with me. I promise I won't hurt you," I told her. She shrugged and took a drag, puffin a ring of smoke in te air.
"ha. you never change. There's no way back," she sighed.
"No. There is. I found one. I just need a little o your blood, and-"
"No," she said, and turned her head away to continue smoking.
"Please. I need this. I can't be a vampire," I begged. Ray positioned the gun so it was aiming at her leg. He asked me with a look if he should pull the trigger, and I nodded. I didn't notic the tear in my eyes, running down the bridge of my nose.
There te was a silenced PEW noise as the silver bullet shot into her thigh. She fell over with a scream, and her cigarette flew from her mouth as she grabbed her leg. A trail of black blood stained her pale jeans. Tears ran down her face as she rolled on the asphalt. I wiped a sleeve against my own face and dried my tears as Ray handcuffed her, causing her to scream and writhe more.
"Sorry, sorry, sorr," I repeated as Ray pulled her over his shoulder and carried her to the car. I was wide eyed te whole time, trying to zone out her screams. I was told to stay in the back seat with her to watch her , make sure she didn't try anything stupid.
When she finally stopped crying, she just stared at me, with this menacing, angry glare. I bit my lip and kept apologizing. Was it like this when Frank killed his friend? He never talked about him by name, so it must have been hard. But this was incredibly hard, and I wasn't sure if I could take it. Harley was silent the whole time, just staring at me with her wrists bloody and her leg limp, tears shrink wrapping her eyes.
"I'm sorry," I said, as I helped Ray pulled her out of the car. She screamed and grabbed her leg.
"Careful!" She yelled at me, "I'm telling mom, Sam," she laughed through her tears. When we got her upright, she leaned over and used me as a crutch. Ray kept his distance. If I was still human, she would have been dead. I didn't know what would be worse: her being dead or her screaming and crying and making me guilty.
We pulled her inside, and then we strapped her to the cot.
"There's only a few days till the blood moon," Ray muttered, pulling a first aid kit from under the cot. After a few hours of Ray taking out the silver bullet, and excruciatingly painful screams, Frank came to the base.
"Wow," Frank whistled when he opened the heavy door to the base. Harley had fallen asleep once Ray took out the bloody bullet. Frank kneeled beside me, where I was sittin on the office stool with dried tears on my cheek. "you okay?"
"Yes," i lied. "What are we going to do when the ritual is done? How are we going to find her sire in time? Will we have to wait 6 months?"
"I don't know, whatever you want to do," Frank told me.
"I wan to change her back," I answerred. "But I don't know her sire."
"Ok. If we can find one, we'll let her know." He replied and got up. He laced to the kitchen, leaving me alone.
The blood moon was In three days.
NOOOO WHY DOES IT HAVE TO END :'(
