Unapologetic Apathy
Truce
Instead of going back to the base, Sam and I went back to the house. Now, the entire team lived there. Kelsie had a small bedroom beside Ray's, I had my own, and Sam slept on the couch.
When We stumbled through the door, Kelsie was waiting with a frown on her face and her arms crossed.
"Frank, enough already. Haven't you learned your lesson? Turn in your com link," she sighed, but surprisingly that was it.
I was torn between having my team hate me for being irresponsible, and having my team hate me for having relations with a vampire.
Sleaking of vampires, the one right beside me looked about to collapse. I motioned for him to go to the couch, but he complained and said he wasn't tired. He stumbled over but caught himself on a side table. He frowned and wiped a hand over his mouth, wincing when it came away red.
"How...bad do I look?" He mumbled.
"Theres only a little," I lied, "go clean up." He walked carefully out of the livin room.
Ray came back as I was putting on a bandage. He gave me a strict talking to, on how my actions were affecting others, quieting his voice to barely a whisper when he mentioned Sam. He also gave me quite a talk about giving my blood away to every vampire I see. I told him I only let one vampire drink my blood, because the other one didn't want to see me much right now.
"Why? What happened?" He didn't sound concerned. Just confused.
"Nothing. He's just kind of crazy," I lied. I bet he did want to see me, I was just avoiding him like the plague. Ray gave me a questioning glance but didn't bother me for the rest of the night.
"You lied," Sams voice said from the bathroom doorway.
"W-what?" I stuttered.
"I was covered in it," he said quietly, scratching at his chin and neck area. He pulled his dirtied shirt over his head. I threw him one of my old ones he could wear, a black band tshirt I forgot I owned for a while. We made a deal to pick up his stuf grafually when his parents were at work, and he could also leave them a note saying he was fine. I told him he had to explain everything.
"Oh. Not that bad," I told him.
"I feel like it's still on me," he mumbled, rubbing at his mouth subconciously. He jerked his hand away and winced in surprise and pain. On his hand was a tiny scrape, but it was swelling black vampire blood. Sam didn't say anything, e just stared at it.
"You okay?"
"Yeah. Yeah I just cut my hand," he told me. I pretended to go on my nightly routine before bed, tidying up the weapons and cleaning the kitchen. I just looked over my shoulder into the living room to check on him. He seemed fine, just tired and groggy. He was looking at his reflection in the shiny coffee table surface , baring his fangs and poking them with a cautious finger.
"Goodnight, kid," I said. He replied with the same, and i went to bed. He was up all night, like usual. "Remeber to not be too loud. Watch tv at a low volume. Dont go outside at all, Kay?" He nodded.
I wouldnt describe my sleep schedule as normal or nocturnal, like Sam's. I went to bed at 4 in the morning, respectively, and woke up at noon. I got 8 hours of sleep, and visiting Gerard was like 3 o clock for me. I woke up around what would be midnight for Sam and Gerard, and I was at the manor by the time Gerard woke up.
I told Sam that if he woke up early enough, he could come with me to the manor. He seemed pretty pumped.
And it didn't seem like vampires had a definite 8 hour sleep cycle. They went to bed as soon as the sun came up and woke up when the sun was down. In my head, I called it 'tan-avoidance sleep schedule', even though I didn't know for sure what happened to a vampire in the sun. I assumed the same things as holy water.
I fell asleep thinking about all the vampires if killed. All of them had been in a dark room, exorcism like. Sometimes if wrestle them down. Others, people had already caught them for me. I was considered an exorcist, in some cases. An exorcist could probably cure the disease, if he wanted to. That's when I fell asleep.
When it it was time to go, I woke up Sam and took him to the manor with my duffel bag. On the way there, I couldn't help but notice his twitching eyes on the bag, the way he followed it wherever I put it. I felt ba for the kid.
When i I got to Gerard's door, he opened it before I knocked. He looked shocked at the giant diaper-like bandage on my neck. Usually, he gave me those. But he shook off all expression from his face except that annoying smirk. He turned to Sam and said with a mischievous tone, "taste good?" Sam's face warped with anger and he threw his head down and shoved his hands in his pockets.
"Don't talk to him like that," I snapped.
"Okay, Frankie," he said mockingly. I bit my lip to keep from calling him vicious names in front of Sam.
"I'm here to see if you have any progress on the cure yet," I said stiffly. He pouted sarcastically and shrugged.
"Iv been trying for over two centuries. Still," he tilted his head almost comically, "nothing." He was about to say goodbye and slam the door shut, but I stopped it with a hard kick. The door swung open again and Gerrd sighed in exasperation.
"You know what would help with that? Internet. Maybe if you just cooperated with me-"
"you. Cooperate. With me," he hissed. I rolled my eyes. Sam, beside me, was looking tense, but he was now staring at us like he saw a ghost.
"Gerard, please. If we work together we can-" I started, but he grabbe my arm and pulled me inside roughly. Once I was inside, he turned to Sam. He held up one finger.
"If you'd excuse us for a moment," he hummed and swung the door shut all the way. I was about to start yelling at him, when suddenly he pulled me closer and gave me a rough kiss on the lips. I put my hands up by shoulders, unaware of where to put them at first, but soon they dropped down to his arms. We stood there, kissing roughly, until he pulled away and glanced at my neck, where Sam had left the half healed mark.
"Gerard, if we get that cure, we can turn you back into a human, and we can turn Sam back to normal, and-"
"I know what the cure does," he said in a humourless laugh. He was inches away from my face, his eyes downcast and his eyelashes making sharp shadows in his cheeks. His eyes were clear, sparkly stained glass.
"If we work together, we'll find it," I assured him. I felt his hand reach behind me and stroke my short hair. Goosebumps spread down my neck and arms.
"It's been centuries," he murmured, and I felt bad for him. Fuck. How hopeless he must feel, yet every day he still tries to reverse it. I didn't realize my eyes were wet until I was kissing him softly again. Instead of wrestling with our mouths, it was a gentle, tender kiss. I'd missed this asshole. Fuck.
His cool hands trailed up my shirt and lingered there before grabbing my hips. I moaned into his mouth. I wasn't going to fuck with Sam less than a foot away, right outside the door. but his lips were so soft, I just couldn't stand it. His hands stroked downwards, slowly getting closer to the button of my jeans. My pants were too fucking tight. Suddenly, without my control, my hips bucked roughly against his. He smirked that horrible, sexy smirk of his while we were kissing. That just made me harder.
"Fuck. Sam," I mumbled into his mouth. He stopped, glanced at the door behind him, but shrugged.
"Only a few more minutes," he complained.
"I'll see you again tomorrow. I'll go without Sam. How about that?" I said as I grabbed his hips and pressed them against mine. He gasped against my lips but I shut him up quick enough.
"You are a complicated man, Frank Iero," he mumbled.
NOOOO WHY DOES IT HAVE TO END :'(
