Can't You See Me?

I spent the rest of the day with Frank and his kids just watching movies and listening to the three bicker at one another. It was... a lovely thing to experience. At the end of the night, I found myself not wanting to leave, which slightly bothered me. I suppose it's because he's my best friend and I missed him.

"I kind of don't want you to leave, Mikey," he murmured as he walked me to my car. I didn't want to admit that I felt the same so I said nothing. My pride will always keep me from doing things.

"Can we see each other again soon?" He asked, looking up at me with hopeful eyes. I gave him a small smile as I placed my hand on his cheek.

"You have my number. I'm free anytime," I explained. He smiled so brightly, it melted my heart.

"Why don't we go somewhere tonight?" He asked.

"It's late. Where could we possibly go right now?" I asked, confused. Although it wasn't truly that late, I guess my age was just catching up with me despite being in my mid-thirties.

"Well," he smirked, "the park?" He suggested. Ah, there is also that place. I nodded and stood up straight from leaning on my car.

"Let me go tell the girls I'll be right back," he said as he ran back inside the house only to be pushed out a minute later by two pairs of small hands, causing me to laugh.

"They actually pushed me out!" He complained as he came closer to me. I was still laughing.

"Yeah, yeah. Laugh all you want," he chuckled as we took off in the direction of the park. That was always a place we met up whenever we needed each other and didn't want to be around our families. It was our spot. I hadn't been there in years, and I hadn't planned on going back. Yet, I also hadn't planned to see Frank again, so plans change. And maybe that's best.

Maybe Frank and I could really be something.
