Rebel love song
2nd chapter
“Wear that white shirt that you have!” My mom yelled from upstairs. We were getting ready for Sunday lunch at the Winters’ house and she seemed super nervous about it. “I was gonna wear that for school tomorrow!” “Well you’ll wear something else!” I groaned and put on my button up white shirt. Why was she making such a big fuss out of lunch?
Ten minutes later we were waiting in front of their door. A small woman with blonde hair and blue eyes opened and smiled at us. “I’m Amber. Joe’s wife.” She shook my mother’s hand and then mine. “I’m Linda and this is Frank.” I nodded quickly and stepped inside. “Alan, Lee and Emma, come down to say hi to our guests!” Mrs. Winters yelled and I heard the door opening and then someone running down the stairs.
All three Winters kids looked like their mother. They all had fair hair and blue eyes. My eyes stopped on Alan, who was the eldest. He was looking at me with a questioning expression, his eyes stopping on my tattoos and lip ring. He raised his eyebrows before shaking my hand. “Hi. I’m Alan. I hear we’ll be in the same year. This is Lee...” He pointed at the boy, who looked about eleven years old. “…and Emma.” The little girl smiled at me before rushing back upstairs with Lee following her. “Come with me.” Alan said and I followed him into the living room. “So you probably wanna know something about our school.” I nodded although I didn’t really want to have some kid tell me who to hang out with. Unfortunately that was exactly Alan’s intention. “Okay so like every school we have groups of people… now I should only tell you about the seniors, because the others don’t matter.” He started talking about all the groups and I only half listened to him. The only thing that caught my attention was the sentence he finished with. “And whatever you do, don’t make friends with Gerard Way.” “Why not?” “Just don’t. Trust me. That guy is the biggest loser in the world.” His words actually made me mad and I wanted to punch him. Sure I didn’t know this Gerard Way, but it makes me mad when people talk about other people like that. “Okay.” I muttered.
The lunch itself was the most boring thing I ever had to sit through, but at least the food was good. It wasn’t helping that Josh was texting me through the entire thing. Every time my phone buzzed, six pairs of eyes turned towards me and I just wanted to disappear. “My girlfriend never stops texting me too.” Alan muttered to me. “I don’t have a girlfriend.” I said. “We’ll find you one, don’t worry.” He patted me on the shoulder. I considered telling him I’m gay but I decided to keep my mouth shut and just nodded quickly, receiving side glances from my mom.
Finally we said goodbye and I got to check my messages to see what Josh has to say.

After that I didn’t quite know what to do with myself do I decided to take Jack and Ruthie for a walk. “Come on boy! Walkies!” Jack ran up the stairs and Ruthie gave me a questioning look. “You too, Ruthie! Let’s go.” She waved her tail and followed me up the stairs. At this point I already knew the way to the park, the nearest store and to my new school. I tied Jack to a leash and stepped outside.
On my way to the park I ran into Alan. He gave me a shocked expression. “You have this beast without the leash?” I realized he was talking about Ruthie and started laughing. “She may be big but she wouldn’t hurt a fly. It’s the puppy you should be worried about.” I laughed. He gave me another shocked look and walked away.
The park was mostly empty so I could have Jack off leash. I threw him and Ruthie their ball for a while. After Jack looked like he couldn’t stand anymore I carried him home, not caring if he left muddy paw prints on my shirt. My mom will care though. Even though Jack was only seven months old, that little guy was heavy and by the time we got home I felt like my arms are gonna fall off. I gave them water and food and then put Jack in his playpen (he had to be there overnight, otherwise he’d chew through everything) while Ruthie followed me to my room. I took off my shirt and put it in the laundry. I didn’t bother putting on a new one so I lay shirtless on my bed and took my laptop.
Tomorrow I’ll go to my new school. I was terrified of that. What if they wouldn’t like me? I wasn’t really popular at my old school but I had Josh and Amy. Here the only person I know is some guy that isn’t even the type of person I would normally hang out with. And he looks at me like I’m crazy.
I sighed and texted Amy.
TO Amy (19:02): Hey, got time for skype with Josh now? School starts tomorrow and I’m super nervous
I got her reply fifteen minutes later
FROM Amy (19:19): Sorry, I’m busy now :( Don’t worry it’ll be great (but not as great as our school because I’m there ;))
TO Josh (19:20): Hey, can you talk?
FROM Josh (19:21): Some boring family dinner, sorry
I sighed again and went on Youtube. If not anything else, I could count on Dan and Phil to make me feel better. I watched their videos until eleven and then got myself ready for bed. Tomorrow’s gonna be a long day.
Notes
