"Where is she?" I ask impatiently, pacing back and forth in the living room.

"She'll be here in a moment, I promise!" Mikey says happily.

He was right, as always, because only seconds later do Vanya, Charlotte and Kailey tumble in through the front door laughing.

"Gerard? Is everything alright?" Vanya asks worried.

"Yes, but what is Kailey doing here?" I ask with a small frown.

"We're alright now Gerard, don't worry." she smiles assuringly.

"I wanted to ask you something..." I mumble sheepishly.

"What?" Vanya asks, "should this be a private thing?"

"No! You can let your friends stay." I sigh, taking a step towards her, "I love you Vanya."

"I love you too." she laughs.

"I know, which I why I wanted to ask you if," I start, getting down on one knee, "Would you do me the honor of being my wife?"

Vanya gasps, tears starting to run down her face and Kailey and Charlotte's faces are priceless.

"I-I can't!" Vanya wails.

"Why not?" I ask taken aback.

"Why would you want to be with me, Gerard? I'm sick and you're healthy." she says in a whisper.

"Because you were there when I was sick of life. You saved me and now I want to save you." I whisper back.

Vanya nods her head a little and looks me dead in the eye, "I will marry you Gerard."

"Promise?" I ask.

"I promise." she smiles, and that's all I needed to hear.
