Bad Management

I'm The George

“Please welcome My Chemical Romance!” The host said as there was a chorus of cheers from the minimal audience members that were lucky to arrive early enough. The guys all took their seats after waving towards the group of people, flashing their winning smiles. I was stood behind the cameras view but in the view of the guys, in case anything happened that they weren’t comfortable with. It was all going well, the usual questions of; how did you come up with the songs on the album? Why this direction? What was the vision? And all the other generic questions, the guys tried to answer them politely giving different but yet still similar answers without sounding bored.
“Excuse me miss but you can’t be stood here, can I please see your wrist band?” A masculine voice came out from behind me that I faintly recognised as I turned around slowly.
“I think you’ll find I am allowed to stand here.” I smiled politely looking over at the tallish dark haired guy, “I’m the tour manager for the band.” I spoke quietly to not interrupt the recording.
“No no I have a George Fitzpatrick on the list who can be stood here.” He started to look slightly annoyed which didn’t help by me laughing a little.
“I am George Fitzpatrick.” I smiled showing him the ID badge they gave me when we arrived, “Georgina” I carried on as the blush covered his face as he said my full name at the same time as me.
“I am very sorry about that.” He carried on blushing as I laughed a little.
“You’re not the first to get confused.” I smiled as he took a little time to look at me properly.
“You know you look familiar.” He spoke after a while as he stood at the side of me, as I had turned to face the stage again.
“Well what’s your name kid?” I laughed as he carried on looking at me.
“Michael Cameron” He spoke slowly as he clicked his fingers. “Oh my god you’re that George!” He shouted a little louder than he was allowed because the camera guy glared over at us as I stifled a laugh.
“I’m that George.” I smiled looking up at him.
“It must have been what… 4 or 5 years?” He asked standing a little closer to me.
“6 actually.” I smiled as the guys started to wrap up the interview, I noticed Frank glance over in my direction and frown a little.
“You was always good at keeping track of time. How is your punctuality?” He laughed as I shook my head. I am notorious for being late.
“Well I’m in charge of keeping time for a band so it got better.” I smiled as the guys walked over to us after there was a wrap called. “Great interview guys!” I smiled as I high fived them all.
“Surprise you actually noticed.” Frank spoke a little coolly looking over at me, as I snapped my head in his direction with a questioning glance which he deflected by walking into the crowd and meeting the fans.

I waited for the guys until they had met with all the fans that were in the audience before telling them we needed to leave.
“Sorry everyone but I got to get these guys some food before the show tonight, who’s coming?!” I spoke out to the mob who were all stood in front of them, they all cheered as the guys smiled. “We will see you all there then.” I smiled as I lead the guys away from them all and into the back of the studio. “Ok grab your stuff, the cars waiting outside. I’ll go and hand in all our passes.” I smiled as I took them off them all, Frank practically throwing it in my hands and not so much as looking at me. I walked to the office before knocking on and walking in when I was allowed to.
“Hey we’re all leaving now so I came to bring these back.” I held up the passes as I noticed Michael and another guy sat there talking.
“Great. How long are you over here?” Michael asked as he pushed up off his office chair walking over to me and leaning on the door frame.
“Oh the guys have decided to spend Christmas over here so until New Year.” I smiled, stepping back subtly trying to create a bit of distance between us.
“I’d love to catch up at some time, maybe you can ring me when you’re free and we can go for a drink back at Murray’s.” He smiled as he handed me a pre-wrote piece of paper with his name and number on it.
“Yeah ok.” I smiled, as I heard a cough behind me, turning to see Frank there.
“Sorry to break it up between you two but we’re ready to leave.” He spat out before walking off again.
“See you around.” I wiggled my eyebrows at Michael before walking off in the same direction as Frank.

“Man I am so hungry!” Moaned Mikey as we set off from the Kerrang offices.
“We’re going for food Mikes.” Gerard laughed as he messed around on his phone. “George you’re from round here why don’t you take us somewhere good?” He carried on as he looked over at me from the over the seats.
“Because I like to go back to these places without having a mob follow me.” I laughed glaring over at him.
“Aww come on Georgie! I might start eating Ray if we don’t eat soon!” Mikey continued to moan.
“You are literally like a child Way!” I laughed as I told the driver which directions to take. “Ok we’re here.” I spoke after a few minutes as I heard the unclicking of belt buckles and the opening of the car doors. We walked into the bar slowly, the guys all with their sunglasses on as we took a seat in one of the red leather seated booths.
“Hello welcome to Murray’s, I’m Ashleigh and I will be your waitress for your visit.” The young girl spoke, top so low and skirt so high. “Here’s some menus to get you started with.” She handed them out one by one making sure to bend down so the boys could get a decent look down her v top before she smirked over at Frank. I rolled my eyes quickly looking at the menu to see what had changed. We all ordered our drinks which ‘Ash’ as Frank was allowed to call her trotted off making.
“So what’s the deal with this place?” Ray asked after we all set down our menus once we had decided.
“Well this is my local as us British say.” I laughed looking round. “I got a bar job here when I was 18 and listened to new acts that were up and coming. Half of the bands that I brought to the label are the ones that I listened to here.” I laughed as Ashleigh brought our drinks over and took our order, this time sitting down next to Frank, who looked like the Cheshire Cat, his hand instantly going on her knee under the table, slowly looking over at me with a dumb smirk on his face.

About ten minutes later our food was brought over by Ashleigh and another waitress.
“George!” Shrieked Chelsea as she saw me, causing Ashleigh to give her a funny look. “What are you doing back here? You’re a big fancy manager now, what are you doing in a small time bar?” She smiled quickly putting the food down and hugging me.
“We’re playing a show here actually.” Mikey spoke as I hugged her back laughing.
“Chels meet the guys.” I laughed as she instantly went a shade of pink waving slowly at them as they all said hey. “Chelsea is the one who showed me how to make cocktails.” I laughed as nudged me.
“Not that she needed help, this girl can knock back a good cock.” She nudged me giggling.
“Chels!” I blushed covering my face as she carried on giggling.
“We have to catch up! I have so much to tell you.” She looked over at me as we calmed ourselves down.
“I know we do. Well I’m working tonight, but after the show we can meet up?” I asked her as she nodded quickly. “It’s normally really late though? I can’t give you a specific time.” I told her smiling.
“Doesn’t matter. I’ll be up.” She smiled just as Mikey coughed.
“I have a better idea. Do you like our band?” He spoke straight to her as she nodded quickly. “We will guest list you. You can sort that out can’t you Georgie?” Out of all the guys it’s only Mikey who calls me Georgie, and normally when he’s done something naughty.
“Just letting any riff raff on this guest list then.” I laughed as she punched my arm playfully as I nodded a sure we can. “Here’s my number, ring me when you get there and I’ll send someone to come get you.” She squealed as she walked off. “So yeah that’s Chelsea.” I smiled as we all carried on eating.

We finished our food, the guys all moaning that they had eaten too much like normal. “We should head back guys, you have to sound check and need to get ready.” I smiled as I motioned Ashleigh for the bill. “I’ll catch up.” Frank, who up until this point had been uncharacteristically silent.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea. You’re in an unfamiliar city and -” I started to say before I was cut off.
“I’m a big boy I can handle an unfamiliar city. Don’t worry I’ll be back in time.” He spat out staring at me across the table.
“Fine. Show starts at 8:45. You’re not there you can write the press release and the statement to the label about why.” I spat back, losing my temper with his bullshit attitude.
“Why should I? That’s your job, that’s what we pay you for. Not to spend your time talking to guys whilst working.” He glared at me slightly smirking.

“Let’s go guys. Seems like Frank is a big bad boy now who wants his own freedom.” I shook my head as I got out of the booth and walking over to the bar to settle the bill.
