Bad Management

We All Did

I ran up the stairs to one of the middle floors, I was searching for a door that would be open that I could hide in until I thought of what to do next, and, without the possibility of being found by anybody. I found a maid closet that had an emergency staircase, I walked down the first flight and sat on the second step of the second flight. It was so quiet that I would be able to hear anybody come through the door and move quickly. I must have been there for about 10 minutes when I heard voices coming from near the door.
“No he was bang out of order. He had no right keeping this from us, he had no right doing this, but, George should have told us too. George should have told us she was finding it hard because she had feelings. It would never have got to this stage if they had both just said something.” I heard Mikey’s faint angry voice. “Now we have a manager lost in a hotel, a band to take care of and our guitarist out in the middle of nowhere muttering stupid things.” I could hear the hurt in his voice and I had to clasp my hand over my mouth to stop the sob from giving up my hiding place.
“Mikes come on you had to have noticed? We all did.” Ray spoke out softly. “We know they had something there, didn’t realise they’d acted on it, but, you’re not telling me you honestly didn’t know? Why do you think they always ride together? Why we try to leave them alone as often as possible? We all wanted them to act on it, he deserves a good woman, like George and we thought George deserved a good guy like Frank, turns out he isn’t that good.” Ray carried on as I frowned a little.
“Look this is bullshit, I don’t care about Frank at the moment in time. He better hope I calm down before he comes back, all I care about is finding George. Making sure George is ok.” Bob spoke out in his gruff, I’m taking no shit, voice. “Mikey, Ray and me will take the top floors, Gerard and Sophia will you take the lower floors, work your way up and we’ll meet in the middle. Try every door if it’s open then look in ok?” Bob carried on.
“What can we do?” I heard an Australian voice come out from down the corridor somewhere.
“We got this.” Bob spoke out.
“Please let us help. If we hadn’t have arranged to meet her so soon this might not have happened.” I tried to place the voice and I pretty sure it belonged to Calum.
“Ok someone needs to stay in the reception in case she leaves, two go down there and one of you with Gerard and Sophia?” Bob spoke out again as I heard footsteps clatter away.

I gave it about 10 minutes before texting Sophia telling her I was ok and that I just needed some time. That she should get the guys to enjoy the rest of their night and that I had gone for a drive. I had just clicked send when I realised my phone wasn’t on silent and there was someone was on the other side of the door. I hurriedly tried to put my phone on silent before the confirmation noise was made that my text had been sent, failing miserably. I heard the footsteps stop and retreat back towards the door, holding my breath hoping they think they was just hearing things, I’m pretty sure I would have gotten away with it but for the fact that Sophia had texted me back.
“You know the thing about Iphone’s is they vibrate really loud.” The Australian accent rang out just as the door opened and the light flooded in causing me to shut my eyes. I heard the door close again as I felt someone stand at the side of me. “Why you hiding in a cleaning cupboard?” He whispered this time as I bit my lip.
“Oh come on. I’m the last person anyone wants to see right now. Everyone’s looking for me for answers. I’m the one who solves the problems, but, I can’t fix this. There’s no good outcome from this.” I whispered, my eyes welling up and I instantly became thankful for the darkness.
“That’s not true. I wanted to see you.” He spoke out turning to face me as I noticed his really pale face looking at me. “How about I do something naughty and hide the fugitive?” He smiled nudging me as I laughed a little. “I went to reception and booked a new room number. So my band think I’m in my room blaming myself, and, your best friends think you’ve gone for a drive. Let’s take a night off?” He smiled holding the room card up.
“I’d like that.” I whispered, “I might not be much fun company though.” I warned him as he shrugged before grabbing my hand and pulling me to the door before sticking his head out of the door to check the coast is clear.

We got to the room he had booked safely without being caught and I breathed out a sigh of relief once the door was closed. We walked into the room to where the bed was and I instantly flopped down on the left side closing my eyes trying to flush my mind of everything.
“You know it’s a good job you’re a lefty. I can cope with you crashing my night off but I can’t forgive you sleeping on my side of the bed.” He said smiling as I peeked up to look at him. “I’m ordering room service what do you want?” He said throwing the menu at me as he flopped down on the bed at the side of me.
“Pizza.” I said not even looking at the menu, “Pepperoni pizza please.” I smiled as he laughed ringing room service up and ordering for us. After he rang room service he rolled over to face me, leaning up on his arm. “So how about we don’t mention what happened earlier and instead we get to know each other more; I mean you seem pretty cool.” He smiled as I stared up at him.
“Ok, how about we do favourites?” I proposed as he nodded, “favourite food?” I started off with an easy one.
“Pizza. Doesn’t matter what kind as long as it’s pizza.” He laughed causing me to giggle.
“Steak.” I looked over at him as his jaw dropped a little. “I know whenever I go out and I order a big ass steak the waiters/waitresses more often than not think it’s for one of the guys.” I laughed blushing.
“I like it. Favourite thing to do?” He asked rolling onto his stomach still looking at me.
“Sleep.” I said without even giving it thought. It’s not a shock to everyone that if I’m not doing band work or eating then I’m always sleeping. I looked over at him laughing as I raised my eyebrow at him.
“Mess around on the computer, or, play the guitar.” He told me truthfully causing me to smile. It went on for a few more questions. I found out his favourite place he’d toured so far was Japan, he was a cat person and he has googled himself in the past. “Favourite Disney film.” He looked over at me laughing his head off when I hissed.
“I don’t have one.” I blushed biting my lip.
“How can you not have a favourite Disney film?! Everyone likes Disney!” He shouted out hitting me with a pillow.
“I never said I didn’t like Disney, I love it, I just don’t have a favourite film. If I’m sad I watch Frozen. If I’m happy I watch Tangled. If I need strength then I watch Hercules, because, hot damn do I love Meg.” I laughed blushing realising only Sophia and Frank knew this about me. It’s not something you go round sharing with people.
“That is so much thought into it. I like Camp Rock.” He looked over at me as I burst out laughing. I was laughing that hard that I did something I only ever do occasionally in front of my closest friends, I snorted with laughter. This of course made him laugh and it wasn’t until the knock on the door that we instantly shut up.
“Shit what if we’ve been too loud and we’ve been caught.” I whispered moving closer to him.
“Room service.” The unfamiliar voice came out as I realised a shaky breath I had been holding in.
“Or maybe it’s the food we ordered?” He laughed at me getting up, before I pulled him back down climbing off the bed and throwing the remote at him before making my way to the door. I opened the door as the waiter walking in with the cart laying it out for us on the tray and on the bed as Michael flicked through the channels.
“Thank you very much.” I smiled at the guy before giving him a tip and leaving him to exit the room.
“Thank you enjoy your meal and the rest of the night.” He smiled before walking out.

It had fallen silent whilst we tucked into our first few pieces of pizza before I turned to look over at Michael. “So what film have you chosen?” I asked curiously as I tied my hair back into a tight ponytail on the back of my head.
“I think you’re really going to enjoy it.” He laughed just as Zeus’ booming voice came out as I turned to look at him quickly.
“You’re going to regret this. I will be singing and quoting it. I suggest you get Herc’s lines up otherwise I’ll be doing both parts.” I laughed grabbing another piece of pizza. In the mist of my excitement I managed to spill a full mug off coffee down my jumper which quickly started to soak through causing me to yank the burning wool off. Michael looked away quickly as there I sat in my bra and jeans, going bright red looking round for anything to cover myself up with.
“Here.” He said as he took his top off giving it to me. “It’s fine for a guy to be topless but people get funny about a girl.” He smiled, the red of his cheeks still present as I took it from him slowly.
“Are you sure?” I asked slowly as he nodded, sliding it on slowly it was huge on me and thankfully hid the darker patch of my jeans where the coffee had got me a little.
“Was it the pizza or Hercules that got you this excited?” He smirked nudging me as I laughed out loudly.
“It was Meg.” I looked at him to notice his pretend shock face. We sat watching the film for a bit longer until I knew when Meg was coming up. I sat forward a little, the pizza long gone from the bed and the tray discarded on the floor.
“So did they give you a name along with all those rippling pectorals?” I put on my deep Meg voice that I wish I talked like in real life.
“Oh my god you actually sounded like her!” He laughed as I attempted to flutter my eyelashes like she does, something I’ve never been good at.

“Guys in here!” I heard a thick Australian accent shout out from somewhere in the room. I have no idea when we fell asleep, but Michael, myself and the T.V all had and the only sound coming from the room was Michael’s mumbling, the clomping of feet and the deafening silence of judgement peering my way. It took me a moment to realise we’d been found out, I peered my eyes open and noticed Michael waking up too, rubbing his eyes. We’d fallen asleep facing each other, with our knee’s bent and kneecaps touching. I yawned loudly before fully realising our situation and how it must have looked; I quickly sat up and looked at the end of the bed to notice 6 pair of eyes staring at us intently. It was then I realised I was still in Michael’s shirt and he was in just his jeans. I quickly grabbed the edge if the quilt and rolled myself in it like burrito going bright red as Michael grabbed the pillow to put it in front of himself. Even though nothing had happened we still behaved like two naughty teens who’d been caught whilst on the babysitting job.
“So this is where you two have been? I told you they’d have been together.” Bob spoke out as I noticed the hint of judgement in his voice.
“Right before any of you even start, you have just barged into a room that isn’t any of yours, woke us up and then stood at the edge of the bed whilst this poor guys topless to judge us?” I stared at them all. “Save the lectures guys, nothing happened. Michael found me hiding in a cupboard, crying. He booked this room and we ordered pizza and watched Hercules and fell asleep. The room service tray should still be on the floor, get the remote and check the last watched programme. Before you wrongly jump to conclusions, I spilt coffee on my jumper. You know the burning hot liquid that really hurts when it gets on your skin? Michael was a gent and gave me his top.” I sassed them out throwing my jumper over at Bob so he can see the stain. “Not that it matters anymore because I’m just an unemployed slut after a young band so I can fuck them all, ain’t that right?” I shot them my best don’t fuck me off smile before unrolling out of the cover and grabbing the hem of the shirt.
“It’s fine I don’t want you walking the corridor in your bra.” Michael laughed.

“I’ll get it cleaned and sent back to you. Thanks for a great night Michael.” I smiled genuinely at him before pushing my way past them and out of the door once he had saluted me.
