Boarder Line Badass
Chapter 9
~Haylee's POV~
The next day was the same as the last. Boring, boring and somewhat different. I felt like something was going to happen today, and my instincts are hardly ever wrong. Apart from the time I thought it was safe to cross the road and there was actually a bin lorry coming much faster than the speed limit. It screeched to a halt, just in time for me to not get a view of the underneath of the vehicle. We had already had 3 lessons. Maths, English and Drama, just 3 more to go. Bella, Blair and I stumbled to our History lesson. It was on the other side of the school much to our annoyance.
"Haylee!" The receptionist called. I halted abruptly.
"Yes." I replied, hand on hip.
"Yes what, Haylee?"
"Yes, Mrs. Oops! Miss , I'm sorry I forgot you weren't actually married." I smirked and heard the other girls scoff behind me.
"How dare you! I was going to give you a merit for walking so speedily to class. But now you can jolly well do something for me!" Speedily? Who was she calling speedy? She marched around her desk and stood directly before me. Her eyes were level with mine and she narrowed them into thin slits. The next thing I knew a letter was being waved in front of my face. "Take this." She grabbed my hand and slapped the letter in it, "To the boys school, and be quick about it!" I groaned,
" I will be late to class if I do this." "Well then you will just have to explain to your teacher why you are late." She smirked and walked back to her desk. Blair had disappeared but Bella was still behind me. When I was sure the snob wasn't looking I grabbed Bella and hoisted her out of the door.
"Hey!" She hissed, "Hey! Haylee. What are you doing? I'm not involved in this!" She repeated but louder.
"I'm not going on my own. Plus, it will be fun." We rushed across the school playing field. I took a look at the letter in my hand. "It says it's for a 'Cameron Dallas'." The envelope had their school logo printed at the top and the back had some squiggly writing I couldn't make out.
"Hmm. It looks like it's important." Bella answered. "What would happen if Mr Dallas didn't get his letter?" She grinned and wiggled her eye brows.
"Bella!"
"What? It would only be a prank."
"So it could be super relevant and his whole life could be mapped out in this piece of paper." I exaggerated just as we reached the main entrance. Blair was right, the building was identical to ours. A small bell rang as I pushed on the door. It was stuffy and dark, not like ours. It also had a faint smell of alcohol, tobacco and... weed?
"Can I help you?" An old man croaked behind a desk. He looked about the same age as our receptionist. This set up is very weird.
"Um, hi. We've got a letter for a Cameron Dallas?" I smiled politely only to be returned by a groan.
"That boy again." He mumbled. "I will just look up where he is for you." Bella and I looked at eachother confused. "He's in Maths right now, up these stairs." He pointed an arthritic finger, "Down the first corridor and it's the fifth on your right." The man began walking off towards a door next to him.
"Excuse me? Aren't you going to take the note?" Bella chuckled confused.
"Nuh - uh. I don't go anywhere near that boy. He's got too much attitude for this heart of mine." With that, he was gone.
"I guess we're taking it then." I muttered, and we walked off in the directions we were given. We reached the top of the stairs and were immediately met with modern classrooms. They were mostly lined with glass windows, allowing us to see the people inside clearly. Bella peeked into the rooms and stumbled back when a few boys looked up and saw us. They smirked and some even winked. We just rolled our eyes and continued, whilst giving them the finger.
"Fuckboys," We said in sync. Finally, after giving many rude hand gestures and smiling sweetly at some cute guys, we found the door we were looking for.
"This is it." Bella whispered. "You knock."
"No, you knock!"
"No Haylee, you knock."
"Nah, you're alright. You can knock."
"YOU FUCKING KNOCK HAYLEE, YOU HAVE THE DAMN LETTER!" Bella screamed, from that point, we were no longer discrete. Everyone, and I mean everyone, was staring at us. All the surrounding rooms were filled with eyes that were watching our every move.
"Great. Just great." I hissed, and knocked on the door infront of me. A few cheers gave me permission to open the door. I scanned the room for a teacher only to find him asleep in his swivel chair. Leaving the door open, we strutted over to his chair. After many failed attempts to wake him up, I grabbed the glass of water on the desk and poured it over his shiny head. The class went from confident to roaring loud as the teacher leapt from his chair.
"YOU!" He screeched.
"Yes, me. Or us, meaning the people who have been standing here for ten fucking minutes waiting for you to wake up!" I finished with a sigh.
"I-uh wasn't asleep." He stuttered. Bella and I looked at each other with raised eye brows.
"Sure." We both said. Suddenly, the door slammed shut and the whole class turned to face the disruption. The boy stopped mid walk and stared at us. He put on a breath taking smile or was it a smirk? And continued to sit in the seat directly behind where we stood. The other boys whispered to the late comer until he turned to face us,
"So, ladies. Aren't you glad you got to finally see a boy with features like mine." He smirked and fiddled with his hair.
"Excuse me?" I said.
"Well you don't get to see boys very much apart from the crappy posters you have on your bedroom walls." He sniggered, resulting in a huff from the two of us.
"Come on, even a snail has better features than you." I grinned and he scowled when everyone else laughed. (Including the shiny head teacher)
"Why are you here?" He growled, annoyed I had drowned some of his reputation.
"We have a letter for someone." Bella replied.
"Give me the letter." He demanded as he held out his tanned hand. I just wanted to reach out and touch... I'm so weird.
"No. It's not yours." I protected the note with my life.
"Are you sure about that, cupcake?" He smirked at me. It seemed the rest of the class had disappeared, it was so quiet.
"Don't call me that." I glared at him.
"Why not, cupcake?"
"Because it's an annoying pet name. Plus I don't know you, you don't know me."
"That's a great way to start a relationship." He winked, and I heard Bella giggle.
"Eugh, fuck this." I replied and threw the letter at the dazed teacher. Grabbing Bella's hand, I rushed towards the exit. 'Bye' and various other things chorused as we left, but only one voice stayed in my mind.
"I'm Cameron, cupcake."
