Hard To Explain
Chapter 5 - We Shared Some Ideas
“Well, it was nice meeting you guys, but I think I´ll be heading home now,” she responded with a sultry stance, reaching for my hand and pulling me with her. Shocked, I stayed silent, not protesting, and followed her. With eyes wide in shock and jealousy, Rob and Jake´s eyes trailed us as we made our way out. Outside, I saw a polished, black, Trans Am, my dream car. ´This is me;´ she stated nonchalantly. I slid into the passenger seat, admiring the original renovations, and leather seats, a true classic beauty. As she turned her stereo on, Five Years by David Bowieplayed softly, a soft chuckle escaped my lips, Sarie turned to me questioningly. I opened my mouth to explain, but just whispered “I´ll tell you when the song is over.” I rolled my window down, and stuck my head out, enjoying the warm breeze against my closed eyelids, singing along. “I´ve got fiveeee yeaarss, stuck on myyyy eyesss, fiveeee yearsss, what a surpriseee, we´ve got fiveeee yearsss.” As we approached the red light, I could feel her gaze on me, as the song ended she commented, “you´re quite the singer yourself,” she chuckled. “Okay, so as we made our way to your show, my friends and I were listening to Bowie, and we have this habit of making top five or top ten lists of music, films, and books. Pretty dorky, I know, but we were making a top five list of Bowie´s greatest songs, and I realized we completely forgot Five Years. She laughed at the innocence of my chuckle, and turned her gaze back to the road.
