Ripped Apart

Gerard’s POV
Ray walked over to our table, a shit-eating grin adorning his face.
“Way,” He sang, “Have I got a deal for you. Bob helped come up with it in Science.”
Bob looked somewhat pleased, but also… sad? Who knows with him.
“Oh, yay,” I said, sarcasm laced thickly into my voice, “Will it be as “exciting” as the last bet you made me take?”
Ray laughed at the memory and slid onto the bench. “Even more. This one may take longer though.”
“Tell me more.” I leaned in, not really interested, but curious enough to allow him to continue.
“Playing off of the grade-school game of ask blank out as a joke, we want you to convince the person of our choosing to fall in love with you. The moment they tell you they love you, you crush their hopes and dreams, and leave them.”
I had tried to speak, but I was stunned into silence. That was cruel, even by my standards.
“It would kill them.” My voice wavered slightly, even though I said it without any emotion in my voice.
“I know Gee, right down your alley! And, if you aren’t convinced yet, you will be when I tell you how much I’m betting.”
To humour him, I dryly gave him the answer he wanted.
“500 dollars.” Ray responded confidently.
Holy shit that was a lot of money. Being that the most money I had ever had with me was barely more than half of that, $500 sounded like heaven.
“And?” Ray prodded me waiting for a response.
I turned to Mikey, waiting for his opinion. “I’m not the one doing it, it’s your decision man.”
Thanks Mikey. That was the best advice I’d been given all week.
“Thanks for the help.” I muttered bitterly.
“No problem” came his joyful response.
I pondered the bet for a moment more, and then stumbled on a crucial piece of the game. “Who?”
“Franklin Anthony Iero”
The outcast? I could totally screw him over. “Deal”
“I had a feeling you’d say that”
