June 15th 2002.

The icy cold wind blew straight into my face as I stepped out of the minivan. The small town of Monroeville we were in was very quiet. Very calming. Orange and purple leaves gathered around our feet, everywhere we stepped. It was beautiful. And I tended to take pleasures of of the small things in life.
Gerard stepped out behind me, and I could see him shiver.

"Jesus Christ," He muttered, grabbing his coat out of the van. "I gotta get some antibiotics. Mikey's sick again."

I pursed my lips as Gerard practically pulled Mikey out of the van. Me and Mikey always got sick. Especialy when it was cold.

"I'm just going to get like a burrito or something," Ray said, jumping out and shutting the door behind him.

"Frank, go with Ray and go to that gas station down the road. Mikey and I'll be at a drugstore on the street to the left from here if you need us. Meet back here in 20 minutes?" Gerard asked.

We all nodded, and started heading our own ways. I trudged through the damp leaves and random mud, enjoying the satisfying 'clump' and 'trush' sounds the leaves would make.
Ray did not seem amused as I splashed mud all over his skinny jeans.

There was one single truck outside the gas station. We walked into the shop, and started looking around the shelves for food that looked decent. I went up to the counter, saying to the guy "Hey, do you have a bathroom?"

"Mhm," He replied, rubbing his eye. He directed me to the bathroom behind the counter.

It was a single room that was dirty and had no sink.
After using it, I walked back out into the shop to carry on looking for food to keep in the van for the next 2 days.
It was then I realised me and Ray weren't the only customers in the shop. There was one girl in a hoodie and grey sweatpants, with her hair tied back in a tight knot.
She was a tiny bit shorter than Gerard, so bigger than me.
There were also 2 other guys with her. One had dyed blonde short hair (his roots were growing in) and was wearing a tight yellow shirt and baggy shorts.
The final guy had a thin beard running down his jawline, brown spiked hair with gel in, and was wearing a dark blue hoodie with jeans.
They all looked pretty greasy, dirty, and maybe have just lived their lives in that town. I tried not to stare at them, but they were oddly intriguing.
I pursed my lips and headed down their aisle. They all seemed to stare at me as I walked past. Especially the girl.
I found Ray, picking out a burrito. He already had a few things in hand, no doubt for the rest of us.
We didn't have much money as we toured around. Our friend, James, who was driving us around before, was staying with his fiance as she was due to give birth in two weeks. Until he came back, we had to take turns driving ourselves around. It sucked, because we really felt it as it was. We were poor.
I told Ray I'd be getting some Monster and cigarettes, and walked into another ailse.
There weren't many choices of food or drink, but I managed to gather up the stuff I wanted.
Suddenly, something touched my shoulder, and I jumped.

"Hey!" A high pitched voice whisper-screeched.

I turned around to find the girl from earlier.

"What's your name?" The girl asked excitedly.

"Uhm," I was shocked. What did she want? "Joe." I lied.

She frowned.

"Your friend over there said your name was Frank. He's outside the store, talking to my brother and his friend," She leaned in, and whispered in my ear. "We have a gun. Step outside the store, and your friend doesn't get hurt."
