See You Again

Frank sighed, tugging at the grass that itched the palms of his hands. "Gee, I had such a shit day. I was shoved into another locker, Anthony gave me a fresh black eye..." His fingers grazed the sensitive purple skin under his eye. "My dad's drinking again, my mom gave up and left me behind... She ran off with some other guy... I don't even know his name. God, it's been such a long day, especially without you. Gee, you're my best friend. I don't know what I'd do without you... You're always there for me. You know I love you like crazy, right? I would hope you do, as my boyfriend." Frank smiled slightly to himself, taking a deep breath and pushing his hair back. "I'm wearing your jacket, the one you let me keep the day we started dating. And my eyeliner's just the way you like it." Frank glanced over, giving a half-hearted smile. "I like to look nice for you... You pulled me out of my hole. You gave me a purpose. God, I love you so much. I wish I could go in to more detail, but I have to go... I'll write in that journal you gave me for my birthday. To remind me of the specifics... I'll tell you all about it, when I see you again. I promise." Frank plucked a flower from the ground, laying it gently at his feet. He stood up slowly, head hung low. He looked over the soft grey of the stone slab, trailing his fingers down the cold surface. "I miss you baby. I can't wait to see you again. Soon. I'll see you soon. Hell, maybe even tonight. Wouldn't that be something? I could see you tonight. Maybe I will. I miss you so much. I'll come back tomorrow, okay? If I don't see you tonight, I'll be back tomorrow. I love you." Tears welled up in Frank's eyes, and he quickly wiped them away. "Goodbye, Gee."

Frank walked away slowly, leaving the small patch of vaguely disturbed earth behind, forcing himself not to look back at the headstone that bore his lover's name.

"I'll see you again..."
