Pov Gerard
‘’Gerard wake up.’’ I heard my mom say quietly to me while she sat down on my bed. I then remembered the summer camp, because I saw my bag.
‘’I’m sorry for yesterday honey. I know you two don’t like the idea of a summer camp but this was really the only thing we could do for you.’’
‘’yeah I know, sorry for being so angry at you.’’
‘’that’s okay honey. You know I love you right.’’
‘’of course I know, I love you to mom.’’ She kissed me on my forehead and walked out of my room to Mikey’s. I stood up and got dressed. I really wasn’t looking forward to this but I couldn’t show it to Mikey or my mom. They would both get worried and I didn’t want that. I got my bag and walked to the hallway. I put my bag down and got myself some cereal. Mikey and my mom both came down a few minutes later, they also got themselves some breakfast.
‘’We need to hurry a little bit boys, I said to my colleague that we would be there in 15 minutes.’’
‘’Who is the other kid we’re taking?’’ Mikey suddenly asked.
‘’It’s little Frankie Iero, I don’t think you remember him you once saw him when you were all about 5 years old. Than they moved to another part of the city.’’
‘’I have never even heard of him, isn’t he at our school?’’ I asked, I hoped he wasn’t because that could mean he was nice.
‘’No he is at a different school, I think you guys like him though he also is into all the creepy movies and music you like.’’
After we finished eating we grabbed our bags and got in the car. I was in the front and Mikey in the back. I stared out of the window when we drove away. This was gonna be the summer from hell. Although I really didn’t look forward to the summer camp, the idea that there would be another horror movie nerd there made me feel a little bit better. After a while my mom stopped in front of a house I never even saw. I had never been in this part of the city but it looked nice. My mom got out of the car but Mikey and I stayed.
‘’Do you think he is nice?’’ Mikey asked.
‘’I don’t know I hope so, well he actually has to be nice. He likes our kind of music, you can’t like that and be horrible.’’ I only said this to make Mikey feel better because I didn’t know what to expect at all. Then the door of the house opened and my mom and Frank came walking out. Frank looked pretty awesome, he was wearing a misfits shirt and his hair looked pretty rad. When he came closer I could see he had a piercing in his lip and nose. He opened the car door and sat down next to Mikey, while mom put his bag in the trunk.
‘’Hi I’m Frank Iero.’’ He said happily to Mikey while shaking his hand.
‘’hello… I’m.. eh… I’m..’’ I saw Mikey got kind of scared so I helped him.
‘’hi I’m Gerard and that’s Mikey. I see you like misfits.’’
‘’yeah their amaaazing. They are pretty much my life at the moment.’’
My mom got in the car and drove away. Me and Frank just kind of chatted about bands, movies and comics. After a while Mikey joined our conversation and I saw he was starting to feel more comfortable now. Frank is really nice and we have a lot in common. I think he is actually kind of starting to feel like a friend already. I haven’t had a friend since I was about 10 years old so I didn’t know for sure, but the fact that I could talk to someone this long felt amazing. Then suddenly the car slowed down and apparently we were already driving for about 4 hours. Because of our chatting I kind of forgot about the camp and the ride.
‘’well almost there.’’ My mom said.
Then we saw the sign that would change our whole life.
Camp Neverland.
