Good Nite Dr Death
Home
Claire left me with a kiss at the elevator and I took the ride up there to collect my thoughts.
For someone with so many rushing emotions it seemed that calm was the one that won out. I had just gone through something unbelievable but the opportunities in front of me were beyond imagination. I had found a man who wanted me for an eternity and I wanted him the same way. I had a new home and there was no need for talk of jobs or careers or a mortal life. Whatever struggles I had been through before had been wiped clean.
But terror still lurked.
Claire had explained that secrecy was everything. The mortals could not know of us, we had to remain in the shadows and never feed in one place for too long. Eating at the clubs my new friends owned was a no and there were other vampires out there who wouldn’t take kindly to a newbie screwing things up. I tried to take everything in and kept running through it as I stepped out onto the balcony.
There he was.
Gerard was leaning on the wall facing away from me. A slight pink was seeping into the edge of the horizon and I could see a bottle of whiskey on the ledge. All my doubts had vanished on seeing him again and I walked across, running my fingers down his back. The thin shirt didn’t conceal the warmth of his body and he turned, panic on his face as he looked me up and down.
“I’m so sorry. What I did was selfish and…”
I put my finger to his lips and sank into his embrace.
“A little warning would have been nice but I forgive you. I just hope that it doesn’t change things between us.”
He visibly relaxed, kissing my hair and cheeks before lifting my chin so that I could look into his eyes. There was no need to hide the fangs anymore when he smiled and I couldn’t help but stare at him before his lips were finally on mine and we were kissing deeply. Lips and tongues met and explored, the taste of him made my stomach contract and I hardly heard his whisper.
“This makes you mine. My other, my love as I hope I am yours.”
I nodded my reply and kissed him harder. There was nothing I wanted more than Gerard and I could feel that the desire in me worked kind of like the desire for blood. It was stronger and hotter than anything I had ever felt and it took minutes before either of us could pull away.
Gerard took my hand, leading me back inside and shutting the door as the light came above the roofs. It was strange to see heavy curtains pulled over but I soon forgot it as he suddenly turned.
“Oh god. Have you had any blood? If not we must get you some.”
I giggled and sat on the huge bed, my fingers sinking into the soft sheets.
“No, I sort of attacked Sally and Claire said that was enough for one night.”
Gerard did try and keep a straight face but couldn’t, collapsing on the bed beside me and burying his head in my neck to try and stifle the giggles. I got to tickling him which turned to more kissing and soon we were lying together in an exhausted and rumpled heap. The sophisticated man I had fallen for had morphed into a happy kid and now I was hopelessly in love. Gerard still seemed a little troubled when he thought about my new status.
“I should have asked you but I couldn’t find the words.”
I stared at him.
“No, I think I would have run. How long have you been a vampire?”
“Claire turned Mikey and I in December of 1887. I was twenty five and he was twenty three. She has been a vampire since tudor England times and is the best thing that happened to us. We turned Frank in 1953 and Ray in 1988.”
I couldn’t take it in that this beautiful man was nearly one hundred and thirty years old and Claire had looked younger than me. He smiled at my reaction, kissing along my shoulder and up my neck as I tried to think of everything he must have seen and done. It was intoxicating. My senses were dragged back to his lips on mine and I pulled him closer by the hair. Hands were already reaching for buttons and both of us groaned as there was a knock at the door. Claire sounded most amused through the wood.
“Gerard, if you don’t introduce Mikey to Elise soon he will break this door down.”
I grinned as Gerard flushed, opening the door to Claire who dragged another man into the room. He was taller than Gee and thin, a handsome face that broke into a shy smile as he saw me. The hazel eyes and dark hair were the same and I knew this had to be Mikey. Gerard tried to frown.
“Fine, then can we have some privacy? Mikey this is Elise.”
I grinned and found myself swept into a hug.
“My brother hasn’t had a fuck in decades. Go easy on him.”
Gerard looked horrified and tried to grab at Mikey as Claire pulled me out the way, both of us laughing. Ray appeared at the door and hugged me as Claire’s face lit up and she pulled another man into the room. He was the shortest of the four, shaggy black hair hanging in his eyes as he smiled at me and she kissed him.
“Elise, this is Frank.”
“The Frank?”
“Am I famous?”
I nodded and he looked a little surprised as Gerard finally untangled himself from Mikey and pulled me close. Ray produced a bottle of champagne, the cork sailing out the window as glasses were passed around. Claire looked at us and raised a hand.
“Welcome to the family Elise. Now all we have to do is find someone for Mikey and Ray.”
Ray blushed, Mikey saying that the woman had not yet been born that could keep up with him. Soon we were all laying on the floor and the bed and I was comprehensively grilled up to the point I had met Gerard. Frank said that he had a theory.
“I think some people are meant to be vampires. Like, born to it so that when the right vampire comes along it happens naturally. Elise has been dead for less than a day and yet she is at home with us and completely comfortable.”
“Because I am a sex god.”
Frank giggled at Gerard’s remark, Mikey winking at me as I stared up with mock astonishment.
“I will have to confirm that in the morning.”
“She’s got him taped.”
Gerard kissed me and I was content to listen to them as their lives were explained. They had income from the club and long term investments. They hunted on the other side of the town and Claire would show me how the next night while the boys took care of some other business.
“Then we go out and celebrate.”
