Love and Guns

It was the day before the big date and Gerard was very nervous. He had only been on a few dates before but none of the people were as interesting or as attractive as Frank. Gerard considered himself lucky to be going on a date with him and he hoped that it wouldn't be the only date they had.

Gerard was sitting on the living room couch when Mikey walked in the front door.
"How was your first day?" Gerard asked him. Mikey plopped onto the couch next to him and let out a big sigh.
"It went awful. I was supposed to get a box of coke from Iero & Son for dad so he could see what the difference was, but the deal was a mess and I didn't get it. Oh yeah, and Marcus got shot."
At the sound of that, Gerard was very interested.
"Is he okay?"
"Yeah, he has to have back surgery, though."
Gerard was relieved.
"Were you scared?" He asked his younger brother.
"Terrified. One of the guys was like 9 feet tall and looked like he could break my arm with one hand! The other guy wasn't really scary. He was just some short guy with a bunch of tattoos, but he was the one that shot Marcus. I think dad is going to be mad at me for not getting the box, though."
"Well, I don't know he might cut you some slack since it was your first day."
The boy's conversation was cut short by their father yelling Mikey's name.
"Good luck." Gerard smiled up at him as the younger boy made his way to the elevator.
Gerard couldn't help but think to himself how lucky he was that he didn't have to face those two men that shot Marcus. He probably would've killed both of them, given the chance. But then again, he probably wouldn't have. Gerard thought of himself as much bigger than he actually is.
He brushed the thoughts aside, and pulled out his phone, shooting a quick text to Frank.
He wondered to himself what Frank would think if he knew his family did what they do. He would probably think they were crazy.
But then again, he probably would think a lot of things.
