I was helping a teenage boy pick out comics, when Lindsey walked in. I frowned at her, and myself. I was checking her out and I knew it. It was hard not to, honestly. She was attractive. She was wearing what she wore on stage at her concert. A red blazer, and a plaid skirt with biker boots, and her done in pigtails.
I didn’t think she knew I was going to be here. She looked shocked to see me. I quickly excused myself from the kid I was helping, and walked over to her.
“Gerard? What are you doing here? Are you buying comics?” She asked. I shook my head and pointed at the name tag pinned onto my chest.
“Oh, that’s cool. I guess we work together.” She said, as she began to pin her name tag on, too. It read ‘Lyn-Z’.
The work day was pretty uneventful. I mainly just helped kids pick out comics, and chatted with Lindsey. Turns out she tours with MSI every couple of weeks, but she lives here in Jersey.
Lindsey gave me a ride home, and I stalked upstairs to my bedroom. I didn’t even have time to take off my shoes before I collapsed on the bed and fell asleep.
It was happening all over again. I was driving the car down the road, with my hand resting gently on Frank’s thigh. He was humming along to The Smiths, and I smiled at him. I felt like it was happening in slow motion, as I watched him reach toward me, and suddenly the car was flipping. I kept my eyes on him, trying to grab his hand, but my seatbelt was holding me down. I watched in complete horror, as he unbuckled his seatbelt, trying to reach for me too, and the car flipped once more, and he flew forward, and I shut my eyes as I heard glass shatter.
“FRANK!” I screamed, sitting up. I was covered in a thin layer of sweat, and my hair was sticking to my forehead. I felt tears running down my face as I wiped my eyes. I pulled myself out of my bed, and walked to the bathroom. I turned the shower on cold, and stripped out of my clothes, carefully folding Frank’s sweater and putting on the towel rack.
I stepped into the shower and winced at the cold water hitting my back, then I slowly relaxed into it. I let it encompass my whole being, until I was okay again. The dream kept playing over and over again in my head.
I thought it over again and again. Right before we started flipping, Frank reached over, but I don’t remember why.
I smacked myself on the forehead, willing myself to remember, but I simply couldn’t.
Whenever we drive, he usually gets kind of motion sick, so he tries to stay calm, and not move a whole lot, so for him to launch himself toward me like that was completely strange.
He was trying to do something and I needed to find out what.
