Frank Stop Staring

Chapter Twenty-Øne: Angels weren't meant for the beautiful creature.

Jamia arrived at the house, sweat dripping down her forehead as she tried to hold back the tears. Frank was like a little brother to her, she pretty much raised that little boy into who he is today and now it was all her fault that he was sick. She knew he couldn't live alone, hell if he could she wouldn't have helped him in the first place.
When they first met, Frank was just in middle school. It was his first year, and he was all alone with no friends. And of course, Jamia's teacher had told her to walk the new kid "Frank" to the parent pick-up area at the end of the day. How coincidental...
Well, Jamia "agreed," and what I mean by agreed is that the teacher walked away before she had anything to say to her.
By now, Jamia was dreading the end of the day, she didn't care about a little boy a year younger than her; all he was doing was adding another task for her day.
And when the bell rang, Jamia sprang out of her seat, hoping to miss the teacher before she spoke to her. But, immediately, the teacher called out for her.
"Jamia, don't forget to walk Frank to the parent pick-up!" She said, almost in an intimidating way.
Jamia slouched, knowing now that she had to walk him. There was no way out of this situation...
Once she found Frank, which he wasn't hard to find since he pretty much still looked like emo trash, she grabbed him by the collar without saying a word.
"What're doing handsy?!" Frank hollered, backing away from her.
"You wanna know where the parent pick-up is, don't ya?" Jamia argued.
Frank shrugged, "I guess so, yeah."
"Then hurry up, I want to leave this god-forbidden catholic hell." Jamia walked off, knowing damn-well he was following her.
Frank, of course, liked this girl's attitude. She had a funny way of making him laugh. So he kept along her side ever since.
When they reached the parent pick-up, Frank's grandparents were no where to be seen and neither were Jamia's parents.
They sat there for a while, kicking rocks and staring at passing cars in the distance.
"Where are your parents?" Jamia asked.
"I have no idea," Frank paused, "My Grandpa probably forgot where to pick me up."
"Grandpa? What about your parents, don't they pick you up?" Jamia asked, not really understanding Frank's situation.
"I don't have parents..." Frank looked down at his feet, "They're -uh- not alive."
Jamia instantly regrets ever asking him questions. How embarrassing?!!
"Oh," She looks at him, "I'm sorry for your loss."
"It's okay, I never got to love them anyways," He says sticking at his feet, "I guess it's better to lose someone before you ever get to know them."
They stayed silent until Jamia's dad came to pick her up.
As she was walking to the car, she waved, "Bye, Frank."
"Bye... -uh-"
"Jamia." She answered.
"Okay, Jamia." He nodded then waved her off, "Bye."
They've been friends ever since that day.
And now Jamia can't lose Frank, she can't lose him no matter what. After all he's been through in life, he doesn't deserve this. He never deserved anything he got.

Flashback: April 5th, 4 years ago

Frank and Jamia had been friends for a year now. He confessed many things to her, she was his safe place. But through out the months Frank seemed more and more distant. Jamia lied in bed with him, wrapping her arm around his stomach.
"Frank?" She asked.
"Hmm?" He murmured.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine..." Frank scooted further away, pulling her arm off of him.
"You're clearly not." Jamie sighed, laying on her back now.
"I don't want to talk about it." He answered.
"Okay, I'll just leave you alone then." Jamia stated, getting up from the bed.
As she was grabbing ahold of her school bag, Frank began to whimper. She turned
around only to face this once held together guy, to now a small shell of him waddled up.
"...Frank..." Jamia pleaded as she dropped her belongings.
"I don't want to live anymore, Jamia. I'm sick of everything." He cried.
"No, Frank. This is only your depression talking it's not you. I know you and you would never in a million years tell me your life isn't worth living." Jamia guided him.
"What life is worth living when your own mother killed herself and left the father to watch a child he doesn't want. I wasn't enough for him to keep his own life too." Frank admitted.
Jamia never knew what happened to Frank's parents. She just assumed it was too much for him to talk about.
She held him in her arms, "Oh Frank, I'm so sorry. You never deserved a life like this."
"Yes, I do." Frank argued.
"No, no. I'm telling you now, you will find someone that'll give you their world. You will mean so much to them that they'll be willing to take their own life for you." She paused, swiping the hair off of his face, "But for now I'll be that person until you find your soulmate."
"You really believe in soulmates?" Frank whispered, calming down.
"Yeah, I believe that the greater good of the world will save us one day. We're all just celestial stars anyways..."
He said, sleepily, "What if I never find my soulmate?"
"Then, we'll get married." Jamia suggested.
"At 40?"
"Yeah, at 40..." She whispered in his ear before falling over, asleep.
Jamia only wanted the best for Frank.

Flashback: January 17th, 2 years ago
Frank's Grandmother had passed away a year before, when he was in 9th grade. She died in a fight against leukemia; and unfortunately she couldn't beat the sickness in her. It was a tragic death and hard on both Frank and Jamia.
She had grown close to his family and it was tough to see Frank go through all that pain let alone seeing Frank's Grandpa go through it too.
But what really killed her was the night of January 17th.
Frank showed up on her door step, crying hysterically.
"What's wrong Frank?" She held him, tearing up because she knew exactly what he was going to say.
He grasped onto her, "He's dead! He's Fucking Dead! I HAVE NO ONE!" He sobbed loudly into her shoulder. Leaving wet spots all over her sweater.
She just about lost it, knowing what Frank had been through all his life and seeing him like this made her feel so helpless. Nothing in Frank's life ever went right and she couldn't do anything about it.
Shortly after Frank's Grandma passed away, Frank's Grandpa had been diagnosed with lung cancer. Which wasn't surprising since he'd been smoking since he was a kid. It was bound to happen.
It was still hard on Frank, and made him even more depressed.
All Jamia ever wanted was to see Frank happy, and as time went on it seemed to be rarely happening for Frank. But now with Frank's Grandpa gone, she thought he would never be happy again.
"Why, Jamia, Why? Why did he have to leave me?" He shouted.
"I don't know, Frank, I don't know..." She cried.
They held each other in Jamia's bed for a long while until Frank spoke up.
"I love you." He said.
"Huh?" Jamia turned over to see him.
"I love you a lot, Jamia." He repeated, admitting his secret.
Jamia thought for a second.
"I-I love you too, Frank." She said, grabbing his hand.
Frank leaned in to kiss her, sweet and gently.
They glided among each other's mouths, feeling all the crevices as they dug into their lips.
Jamia felt a tear fall onto her cheek, it was Frank's.
"We don't have to do this you know?" Jamia said, concerned about Frank's well-being.
"No," Frank stated, "I want to show you how much I love you."
Jamia and him ended up making love that night, both of them losing their virginities. But Frank didn't mind losing his innocence to his best friend. It was probably better than him losing it to someone at a gas station bathroom. Jamia, also, felt it was better to lose it to Frank, who she genuinely loved, then to lose it to some douchebag in her english classroom. They ended up never talking about it and went on with their friendship.
Of course, Frank and Jamia love each other, it's just that they moved on from that night. Jamia knew Frank wanted to feel loved and if that was what was going to get him out of his depression hole she would do it. And it wasn't like she didn't want to do it either.

Jamia always wanted the best for Frank, but now he was sick. He was always fucking sick, whether it was mental or physical. Jamia was tired of it, she always wanted to see Frank grow up happy after everything he'd been through, but somehow the world found a way to bite him in the ass.
And now that they're hauling Frank to her car, she'd realized she shouldn't have left him alone. Jamia was the only family to Frank and she fucking left him?!
But now as she see's the look in Gerard's eyes, she knew Frank was protected while she was gone.
That was the look she always hoped Frank would see. Gerard was his soulmate and whether she liked it or not, they were inseparable.
Gerard was in tears over Frank, he was the only one keeping him here, keeping him alive.
Jamia felt terrible, it was all her fault. No matter what Frank tells her it all comes down to her leaving him.
As they reach the ER's entrance, Gerard croaks, "I can't go in there, baby. They'll find out about us," He kisses Frank's forehead before continuing, "Be strong for me."
All Frank can do is stare and it was killing him that he couldn't kiss Gerard back.
"Take care of him" was the last thing he heard Gerard say to Jamia before she picked him up and rushed to get inside the ER.

Notes

Isn't the Ø so 3dGY
Anyways, I'm really sorry it took so long to update. I'm not really proud of this chapter because it changes tone through out the piece since i wrote this at various times during the course of three weeks, so if it seems choppy that's why. I hope this helps explain why Jamia loves Frank so much and what exactly their relationship is. Hope you have a great day.
