My Way Home Is Through You

Gerard finally had the first issue of his comic finished. It was a huge hit so far and Gerard couldn't be more proud of himself. His hard work really started to pay off. He was glad that everyone was so supportive.

He seriously thought Frank would have thought what he wanted to do in life was idiotic and a waste of time. But Frank was more than supportive and said as long as Gerard did what makes him happy, then he's happy too.

Although, Gerard wanted to do something a little more meaningful, something like that just wasn't happening. So, he decided to stick with art since it's something he's great at and loves doing.

Gerard gave Mikey and Frank their own issue to read. Mikey thought the story was brilliant. Frank loved the concept. They couldn't wait for the second one.

Mikey, Frank, Gerard, and the Way's mother and father all went out to dinner to celebrate.

Once Gerard and Mikey arrived home from after dinner, Gerard immediately started to work on the second issue of his comic. Mikey told Gerard he should just relax and take some time off first but once Gerard has an idea in his head, there's no stopping that man.

He jotted down ideas as they were fresh in his mind.Gerard was hard at work for three hours until he was interrupted by his constant yawning. He picked up his cellphone and checked the time. It was after 2 A.M.

He also had 4 texts from Frank. Two were asking if he was okay and the other said that he loves him and could not be more proud of him for following his dreams no matter what.

A couple of weeks later, the second issue of Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys was complete. It was another huge success.

They didn't go anywhere to celebrate this time though. Gerard didn't think it was all that necessary. Once was more than enough for him. Instead, he and Frank celebrated on their own in Gerard's bedroom while Mikey blasted Smashing Pumpkins in the living room to drown them out.

Gerard didn't understand how he got so lucky. He has a boyfriend who truly cares about him and wants him to be happy. He's with someone who doesn't think his life choices are silly or dumb at all.

"How did I get so lucky?" Gerard asked Frank as he rested his head on the other's chest.
Frank giggled. "I ask myself the same question everyday."
"I can't believe that going to the bar was one of the best decisions I have ever made." He giggled.
"I know right? You don't even drink."
"I never thought picking up someone at bar would have lead to this much happiness either."

The two of them kissed and cuddled close and fell asleep.

The next day, Frank left Gerard a note saying he went out to run some errands and he will be back later to say goodbye to him properly.

What Frank was really doing is shopping for promise rings. He thought it was way too soon to think about or even talk about the idea of marriage, but he knows that they love each other. This was his way of showing Gerard how much he means to him and that he doesn't want anyone else but him.

He didn't get anything too fancy. He bought two simple gold bands. He just hoped Gerard would like them.

It was around lunch time when Frank got back to the Way's. Mikey let him back inside when he knocked. Gerard told him he doesn't have to knock and just walk in, but Frank says it's the polite thing to do.

When Frank is inside he goes and looks for Gerard. The red head was sitting at the kitchen table eating Ramen and drinking coffee. Kind of odd things to put together, but hey.

Gerard got up from the table and walked over and kissed Frank. Once they pulled apart Frank grinned at the taller man and then looked over at Mikey.

"Hey Mikey, could you give your brother and I a moment alone?"
Mikey shrugged his shoulders then nodded his head. "Yeah. Sure. No problem." Then he headed outside to take a walk around the block.

Gerard looked over at Frank and raised his eyebrows, not so sure about what's going on.

Frank smiled and took the promise rings out of his pocket and balled one of his hands into a fist to keep them hidden for the moment.

"Gerard Way, I love you with all my heart. I wanna stay with you as long as I can. You mean the world to me and I can't imagine myself being with anyone but you. So, will you do me the honor of wearing my promise ring, baby?" He unballed his fist and displayed the rings to Gerard.

Gerard squealed and threw himself at the shorter man, hugging him and planting kisses all over his face. "Yes yes yes yes! I would be more than happy to!"

Frank and Gerard smiled as wide as Jupiter as Frank slipped the promise ring on Gerard's finger. Gerard took the other ring from Frank and place it on Frank's finger. They kissed lovingly and stood holding each other.

Mikey came back in and Gerard has tears in his eyes...happy tears of course. Mikey looked over at the couple and walks over to them. "What's going on?"
"Happy tears. Frank gave me a promise ring." Gerard smiled and wiped away tears with his sleeve.

Frank made a face and got Gerard a tissue instead. "Here."
Gerard giggled softly and thanked him and used the tissue to dab at anymore tears that were lingering. "Better?"
"That's awesome! Congratulations you two." Mikey pulled the couple in for a group hug.

The three of them stood around smiling like a bunch of goons until Frank and Gerard wondered off to the bedroom and Mikey sighed and turned on the radio to drown them out again.
