just another killjoy story

I saw Lizz wanted to stand up but I pulled her down. What do we need to do, stay calm just wait for a second maybe they go away.
‘’Show yourself, or I will shoot you!!’’
They don’t know we’re together. That’s it I just show myself and then Lizz will be save. I tried to stand up to show myself but I fell because my leg wasn’t working well. They both pointed their gun at me and I could see Lizz was still behind the bush. She wanted to get up to help me but I looked angry at her and she stayed seated.
‘’Who are you and what are you doing here in zone 4?’’
I looked up and saw a guy with a yellow mask and fire truck red hair above me. I stand up again and this time I don’t fall down. He put the gun under my chin and asked it again.
‘’It’s none of your business just let me go.’’
‘’Actually this is all of my business, what are you doing here?’’
‘’She isn’t alone!!’’ said the one with the green mask while holding Lizz up on her jacked. As soon as I saw he had Lizz I tried to run to the guy with the green mask. I hit him in the face and caught Lizz, but because of my leg I fell with her on top of me.The guy with the red hair had pointed his gun at us again and the guy with the green man was on the ground holding his face.
‘’Shit she hit me hard, my nose is bleeding.’’
The guy with the red hair let out a little grin when he heard that. Than he looked at me and Lizz again. After he looked at both of us a few times his eyes stayed on Lizz’ face. I stood up again and put her behind my back.
A little calmer then before the red haired guy said ‘’How old is she?’’
‘’none of your business’’ I said in the same strong tone as before.
‘’She isn’t even 18 is she?’’
‘’What that can’t be true… you’re right she is really young’’ said the guy with the green mask who was standing up again. Than the red haired guy looked at my leg.
‘’That looks really bad’’ he came closer but I did a step back.
‘’Who are you? Why should we trust you? You said you were going to kill us a few seconds ago.’’
‘’Well we are not saying you have to trust us, are we? Don’t trust anyone in these times but if you aren’t going to let us help, you won’t last very long in this desert with that leg.’’ Said the guy with the yellow mask.
I looked at Lizz and then looked back at the two men. I nodded my head.
‘’Get in the car’’ said the green masked one.
We got in the backseat of the car and they drove away. It was a long ride and halfway through Lizz fell asleep on my shoulder.
‘’How old is she?’’ asked the red haired
I still didn’t know if I could trust them but by just telling our age not much could go wrong so I decided to open up a bit.
‘’She is 15’’
‘’Jeez, so young and already in all this shit.’’ Said the green masked.
I decided to ask them a bit about themselves so I could check if I could trust them and I didn’t know there were other people in the desert so I was also really curious.
‘’Who are you two and what do you do in the desert?’’
‘’We are killjoys, I’m party poison and this man here is fun ghoul.’’
‘’What the hell is a killjoy?’’
‘’Well honey we’re kind of the rebels or the good guys or the ones who need to be ghosted if you ask BL/ind’’ said fun ghoul.
‘’And are there more of you in the desert?’’
‘’yes, of course there are where have you lived the last year under a rock? Hahaha there are lots of us here in the desert.’’
The rest of the journey nobody talked. I stared out the window and just thought. There are rebels, we aren’t the only ones. And the most important thought: we can maybe trust them, we can maybe live.
‘’Here we are, home sweet home’’ said fun ghoul as he opened the door for us. Lizz woke up and didn’t have any idea where she was, I smiled at her to calm her a bit and she smiled back. We got out the car and saw an old and abandoned diner. Lizz helped me walk inside with them where we were greeted by two other guys and their guns pointed to us.
