Never Leave My Side.

Strangers.

Frank sat at his window staring deep into the distance. Unable to sleep, this helped him stay occupied until the pull of exhaustion finally told him it was time to rest. Frank climbed down off of his window pane and sleepily dragged himself up onto his soft bed. Frank crawled the covers. The warmth of his blankets increased his sleepiness and Frank then began to drift off to sleep.

Frank was awoken the next morning to the blaring of his alarm clock. Groaning, Frank sat up and stared at his clock. 6:30. It was time to get ready for the first day of school. This would be his Sophomore year. Frank wearily crawled out of bed and headed for the shower. The warm water felt soothing on his back. After his shower, Frank made his way back to his room and headed for a heap of clothes shoved in the corner. He picked up a black T-shirt and gave it a whiff. It smelled fine, so he slipped it on. He then grabbed a pair of faded black skinny jeans and put them on. When Frank was fully dressed, he headed downstairs and plopped down on the couch. After lounging around for a while, Frank turned his head toward the clock mounted on the wall. He cringed. It was time to leave for the bus. Sliding his backpack up over one shoulder, he left the house.

When he arrived at the bus stop, Frank was greeted by the unwelcoming faces of the other teenagers waiting for the bus to pick them up and be off to the hell that was school. Shortly after Frank arrived, the bus stopped in front of him. He climbed aboard along with the other teenagers. Now inside the bus, Frank selected the only empty seat and sat down. Finally, after what seemed like and eternity, the school bus arrived at his school. When the bus came to a full halt, Frank hopped off and headed inside. He went to the office to pick up his schedule to start off the new year.

Frank glanced at his schedule. Great. His first hour was science. And from talk around the school, Frank could tell that his teacher wouldn't be too nice. He walked down the hall of riled up teenagers to get to class. Upon arriving in class, Frank selected the seat in the far back.

After what seemed like an eternity, the sweet hum of the bell finally rang, releasing Frank to lunch. Frank made his way down to the cafeteria. When he got there, he found an empty table to sit at. As he sat down, Frank emptied the contents of his lunch from a brown paper bag. When he started to eat, something caught his eye. Frank turned his head ever so slightly to see a boy with bright red hair erupting from his scalp. It fell perfectly to his face. The boy noticed Frank staring and turned his head to face him. As he did so, Frank quickly looked away. Noticing that Frank was lonely, the boy came over to him and sat directly across the table from where Frank was sitting.

"The name's Gerard," The boy said confidently. "What's yours?"

Taken by shock that this Gerard kid actually took the time to talk to him, Frank replied, "F-Frank. Frank's my name."

"Hello Frank!" Gerard replied enthusiastically. "You seemed lonely. Do you mind if I sit here?"

"Not at all," Frank replied, unsure of the current situation.

The two boys talked for a while to become acquainted. Frank thought that he may have actually made a friend.
