Kids In The Dark
Chapter Nine
I sigh contently, rolling on top of Gerard.
"Hey!" He mumbles against my neck. "Whats that for?"
"Why haven't I been to your house yet?" I question him.
He tenses up, his eyes shooting open. "Reasons." He says
"Please let me see it! I wanna meet your parents, I wanna see your room!"
"Zippy, I can't let you. There's just some things I don't want my friends to know."
"What about Frank? Or Ray? Have they been to your house?"
He sighs, running a hand through his hair. "Fine. Get up and dressed, then I will show you my house."
I smiled, climbing off of him and heading towards the shower. After I washed and dried off, I put my long, black hair into a messy bun at the top of my head. I looked in the mirror, deciding not to wear makeup.
"I'm ready." I called to Gerard, pulling my shoes on. I head outside, Gerard leaning against the house.
"It's not far, so we're going to walk." He says, grabbing my hand. We begin to walk, heading towards the poorer side of town. As we walked, no body talked, just enjoying the silence. We eventually stopped, and I looked up to see a small, two story house, with peeling blue paint.
"This is it." He sighs, gesturing towards the house, and leading me up the walk. We walk in the door, and are greeted by a clean, bright hallway, nothing like the outside of the house. I sniff and smell baking bread. Gerard leads me down the hall, and into what I assume is the living room. Mikey sits on the couch, reading a comic. Through the door, I see a lady baking at the stove, a pot of soup sitting on top of it.
"Mom, I'm home." Gerard called to her.
"Hi Gerard." She said, coming through the door.
"This is Zippy, my... girlfriend." He gestured to me.
"Hello, Zippy. I'm glad to finally meet you." She shakes my hand.
We talk for a bit, about things like the weather and my family. "Gerard, supper will be ready in about an hour. Why don't you take Zippy down to your room?" He nodded, taking my hand and leading me to a door off the side of the living room. He leads me down a set of stairs, to the basement. It's not a large one, but it's big enough for his double bed, dresser book shelves, and desk.
"Now you've met my family."
