Song of the Chapter: Ribs -Lorde

Sleep had come for me after 30 minutes. I fell asleep to the sweet sight that lay beside me. Before I went under, I thougth of all the times this moment had happened before. They were all so different. Some had love elements, others of sadness or stress. Overall they all had one thing. One very important thing. Hope!

My dreams are artificial. They don't carry any sense of reality. It's like I'm not even in them anymore. There's people I don't know and have never met. There are places I've never been or seen before. As if I'm watching a movie. Or filming from behind a camera. I don't know why, but I like them. Most of the time.

However, this time it was different. I dreamnt about things that I'd forgotten about. It was like a montage of old memories. Probably from looking at old photos with Frank earlier.The one that stuck out the most has also been one of my favorites.

It was back when I was in 1st grade. I was turning 8 years old. I'd gotten held back a year because I failed Math, Spelling and most parts of English. Anyway, in the dream I was sitting in class doing (funny enough) Spelling. Then out of nowhere some kid just started screaming at the top of his lungs. It was really more like screeching. My teacher rushed over to him and tried to calm him down. She kept asking why he was screaming. He never answered. After a full minute, he just stopped. She tried to ask again, but he just started giggling. It turned into a full out fest of him laughing like a mad man. It was cute...

My teacher was confused, but she quickly became angry. I thought his laugh was quite entertaining, so immature little mr started laughing too. This did not impress her. She sent both me and the kid down to the office. I didn't even know this kid but he was so interesting. We both walked down giggling our little asses off. When we arrived at the office, the secretary ordered us to sit in the two chairs outside the principal's chambers in the hall.
As we sat there waiting, it was quiet. Neither of us were talking, so I decided to give it a go.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"My name's Frank!" He smiled. Then he looked down as if he was embarassed or shy, though he clearly was just shadowing. "W-what's your name?"

"I'm Gerard!" I answered.

"Woah! That's a cool name!" He grinned.

"Thanks!" I smiled. "Hey, can I ask you something?"

"Sure!" He adjusted himself so we were face to face.

"Why did you scream?"

He paused in thought as he recalled why we were even here. His face lit up again. "Oh that, I was just bored and I wanted to leave. But to Mr. Fisher, it's because I watched a scary movie when my mommy wasn't looking." His eyes were full of mischief.

"You're going to lie to the principal!?" I was in shock, but I still whispered.

"Obviously!" He seemed caught off guard at my reaction.

"Wow!"

Then the door opened and Mr. Fisher stepped out. He called on Frank first. Frank stood up and shot me a look of 'wish me good luck'. I did mentally and watched them go in until the door closed. They were in there for 5 minutes tops before the door re-opened. Frank stepped out and immediately sat down. Mr. Fisher called me into the room and sat me down. He asked me about the reason for my distubance. I told the truth, but he wasn't happy. All the same he didn't seem overly angered. He tod me never to do it again and that was it. I mean that's really only because they can't give a 1st grader detention unless they become violent.
Frank was still sitting down when I exited the chambers. He looked up at me and smiled a bit. Mr. Fisher set us free and told us to head out to recess.

I didn't think much of it, but I guess we have that stupid school to thank for our friendship.

Even if it was on hiatus at the moment.
