But The Past Aint Through With You

Well I May Have Faked It

"Now I'm of consenting age," the masked, female singer sang. "To be forgetting you in a cabaret/Somewhere downtown where a burlesque queen/May even ask my name."

Ghoul felt the need to look up at the performer, maybe to get his mind off of his misery.
"As she sheds her skin on stage," the singer continued. "I'm seated and sweating to a dance song on the club's PA/And the strip joint veteran sits two away/Smirking between dignified sips of his dignified peach and lime daiquiri"
Oddly enough, not only were those the actual lyrics, but he just so happened to be having a peach and lime daiquiri, as well as the singer who just had one in her hand for act.
She then threw the glass to the floor and continued.
"And isn't this exactly where you'd like me?/I'm exactly where you'd like me, you know," she continued walking off the stage and onto the tables. "Praying for love in a lap dance/And paying in naivety/Oh, isn't this exactly where you'd like me?/I'm exactly where you'd like me, you know/Praying for love in a lap dance/And paying in naivety."
The next "Oh" she sang is what really got Ghoul's attention.
"But I'm afraid that I," she continued. "Well I may have faked it/And I wouldn't be caught dead d-dead d-dead d-dead in this place"
She then got off the tables and started attracting the other bar customers.
"Well, I'm afraid that I" she sang. "Well that's right, well I may have faked it/And I wouldn't be caught dead in this place"
She started to approach Ghoul.
"And isn't this exactly where you'd like me?/I'm exactly where you'd like me, you know" the singer continued as she approached him and grabbed the collar of his shirt. "Praying for love in a lap dance," she added as she flirted with Ghoul. "And paying in naivety/Oh, isn't this exactly where you'd like me?/I'm exactly where you'd like me, you know/Praying for love in a lap dance/And paying in naivety?"
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"What are you doing?" Ghoul asked frantically during the interumental break in the song.
"My job." the singer replied as she dragged him on stage. "Getting you out of here."
"Where are you-?"
"Just play along. We'll be out of here by the end of the song."
"But-"
"Well, I'm afraid that I," the singer interrupted. "Well I may have faked it/And I wouldn't be caught dead d-dead d-dead d-dead in this place"
"Oh here we go," Ghoul growled underneath his breath.
"Well, I'm afraid that I" the singer continued. "Well that's right, well I may have faked it/And I wouldn't be caught dead in this place"
Ghoul was left with no choice but to play along with the act.
"And isn't this exactly where you'd like me?/I'm exactly where you'd like me, you know" she concluded. "Praying for love in a lap dance/And paying in naivety/Oh, isn't this exactly where you'd like me?/I'm exactly where you'd like me, you know/Praying for love in a lap dance/And paying in naivety/Praying for love and paying in naivety/Praying for love and paying in naivety, oh"

The curtain dropped as she dragged Ghoul backstage. And before he could speak, she was already beginning to makeout with him.
"I'm sorry. I can't" he told her as she continued. "You're really talented and sexy, but I have a wife and she wouldn't want me doing this-"
"But sweetie bear." she said. "You like it when I do this with you in bed every night."
"What the-"
And the singer took off her mask.
"Benzene?"
