Every Summer Has A Story
Chapter 1
Summer has arrived and high school has finally ended.I was more than happy to say I was leaving high school behind. It's not that high school was that bad,it's that I was now able to go to College, have my own personal space (I would be living in the dorms of the college) and that I would study at the College of my dreams, The Art College of California.
So when my mom's high pitched yell to wake me up reached my ears didn't make me mad like all the other times she's done that.I cracked my eyes open slowly, wincing when sunlight made contact with them.I slowly got used to it and lay on my bed for a few more minutes,a smile reaching my face.I had finally made it.In three months,I would be walking through the corridors of the College I dreamt since I was a child.
I still remember 12 years ago, when I was five, myself holding my parents' hands, visiting it for an art exhibition that was held there. My parents loved painting, music, arts in general so that is why they had driven all that way there from New Jersey.I remember every single painting and song that has been played there. It was one of the best memories of my life, and that was when I knew what I was going to do in my life.Become an artist.Change the world.
But my daydreaming was cut short when my mom bursted into the room.I looked at her expectantly,my arms behind my head, lazily laying on my bed."How many times do I have to say it Frankie?Get up,gather your things in your suitcase,we have to go! It's 10:30!" She shouted. It was the last trip we were going together, before I moved to the College,so she wanted us to spend some family time together.I nodded and got up as she left my room.Normally I would go on vacation with Ray and Bob,my two best friends. We did that every summer since we were 15,so I'm a bit sad I'm not going to spend those moths with them.A God knows when I am going to see them again after I move to California.
I threw most of my T-shirts and skinny jeans in the suitcase, without paying too much attention to what I picked, since most of them were black or white with bands names.I got my studded belts and threw them in too.Hairspray, eyeliner,my worn out Converse shoes and I was ready to go.I fixed my lip piercing and without a second look in the mirror,I grabbed my suitcase and descended the stairs of my house. Both my parents sighed and muttered a 'finally' under their breaths.I got in the car and Waited for them while listening to music.
The only good thing about going on vacation with my parents was that we were going to California so I could get used to the area I would live.California, here I come.
After many hours,my mom shook me awake.I looked around, oblivious to my surroundings."We're here!" She said while jumping up and down.I was still in the car but I didn't know what time it was.It had gotten dark outside the car window.I got out and looked at the Hotel. It was pretty luxurious and next to the beach. It was pretty quiet too,the only thing that could be heard was the sound of the waves on the coast.
I stretched my arms and my dad gave me my suitcase. He seemed irritated."What happened dad?" I asked while trying to fix my black fringe. He shook his head."There was a mix up and they put your room on the fourth floor while ours is on the second." I just laughed and took a cigarette out of my pocket placing it between my lips."So what? I'm 17,dad,relax". He nodded and gave me a small smile that was cut short and replaced by a frown when he saw the cancer stick in my mouth."Frank, how many times do I have to tell you about smoking? Anyway, here are your keys" he sighed and threw the keys at my direction I caught them and made my way in the hotel.
Walking in,the receptionist,a blonde woman gave me a smile."Welcome to California View Hotel" I nodded and walked past the reception, hoping she'd leave me alone but no such chance.I really couldn't stand talking to people I didn't know,it was too awkward."Sir,you're not allowed to smoke inside the hotel."Her irritating voice rung in my ears.I turned around and looked at her."Does it seem like I have lit it up yet?" I mumbled pointing at the cigarette. Not waiting for an answer I walked up the stairs, because the elevator was occupied and I was not going to wait while listening to her.
Which after two floors seemed a bad idea.My suitcase was pretty heavy and I wasn't really fit.I was panting and breathing heavily."oh fuck my life" I sighed.I turned to look around, spotting the elevator.I got to it and pressed the button, waiting for it to come.A little bell rung and the doors opened widely.Ingot in and pressed the button for the fourth floor. But at the third, the elevator stopped and the doors opened again.I raised my eyebrows and then my mouth hung open. There was a guy with red hair,he was taller than me and was wearing sun glasses. He got in and pressed the button for the fourth floor too.
I stared at him for a while when he suddenly turned around and looked at me.He smiled .I don't know why,but I smiled too."Staring is impolite" he said and I blushed. Was he serious? He didn't look over 25,and he talked like an old person."I can do whatever I wanna do." I spat at the irritating guy.The doors opened finally, and I heard his voice again while we got out of the elevator."Yeah sure kid." He mumbled as he looked at his key to see where his room was located to.
"I'm not a kid,I'm 17!" I shouted, venom dripping from my words. He looked at me,and for a moment I thought that I had won the argument but when he doubled over and laughed hysterically.I stayed there looking at him and biting on my lip. Many people thought I was younger because I was short and I never liked it.What an asshole.looking around,I spotted the door with the number of my room,406,and headed towards it.I got in while slamming the door behind me.I could still hear him laughing.Great.Just great.
