This Summer I...
Chapter 1. Summer Wishes
"Ryan! Hurry up!" Brendon waited impatiently for me by the stairs, tapping his foot.
Today was the first day of summer, and Brendon had planned a trip to take Ryan to the Shore. Ryan had always spoke about wanting to go there, and he brought it up every summer, and Brendon wanted to suprise him.
Ryan was upstairs in his room, packing his bag. Brendon wouldn't tell him where they were going, just that they were going somewhere, and he seemed awfully excited about it. "Be patient, would you!" Ryan hollered back.
"Well, I want to get going!" Brendon shouted.
Ryan closed his bag and then grabbed his jacket, and shoes before running down his twisted staircase. He threw his bag at Brendon, who tried to catch it, but ended up on his ass. "Not cool dude!" Ryan just laughed, and offered Brendon his hand.
Brendon tooked Ryan's hand, but instead of allowing himself to be helped up, he tugged Ryan down so he fell next to him with a grunt.
Spencer stood in the doorway, swinging the keys on his finger. He was the desegnated driver, since he was techincally the only one with a liscenes. "Get up you two, or I'll drag you out to the truck by your ankles."
"Ooh! You brought the truck?" Ryan chirped, "Can we sit in the back?"
Spencer frowned a little, "Fine, you and Brendon can sit in the back. Jon and I will stay in the truck." He said, shaking his head, and laughing lightly.
"Where are we going?" Ryan asked.
"Can't say. Brendon wont let me." Spencer replied.
Ryan looked to Brendon, who was smirking lightly. "It's a surprise, Ryan. I don't want to ruin it!" He said, grabbing Ryan's arm, "Now, let's go already!" He tugged Ryan towards the door, and Spencer moved out of the way to allow them through.
Jon was waiting in the front seat of the truck, looking rather bored. His face lit up when the three came out of the house. Spencer swung into the drivers seat of his red 1969 Ford Pickup truck. Brendon and Ryan clambered into the bed of the truck, both trying to get situated in the open space. "You ready?" Spencer shouted.
"Let's get going!" Brendon responded.
Ryan and Brendon sat in the bed of the truck, "Ryan? What's your summer wish?" Brendon asked suddenly, breaking the peaceful silence.
Ryan looked up from his book, "Hmm... I want... my first kiss." He smiled a little, and laughed almost silently before eyeing Brendon, "What's yours?"
"I don't know..." Brendon admitted, "I guess my summer wish would to be to go on a hot air balloon ride."
"Oooh, that sound perfect..."
Ryan poked his head through the open window, "What about you guys?" He asked.
"I want to go on a ferris wheel." Jon said, blowing smoke out his open window.
"I'm going to sound so corny, but I want to go star gazing." Spencer said with a quiet chuckle.
Gerard waited patiently for his little brother to come down stairs. They still had a while before they had to pick up Frank, Ray, and Bob. "Do you know who's driving?" Mikey called from his room, where he was trying to find his black Misfits tee-shirt.
"I am, we're taking the Cadillac!" Gerard shouted back.
"Mom's letting you drive the Cadillac?" Mikey sounded alarmed.
"You betcha!" Gerard shouted.
Mikey came thundering down the stairs, nearly running in to his older brother. "Let's go get the others." He grinned from ear to ear.
Gerard laughed and reached up, ruffling his little brothers hair. Mikey was only a bit taller then him, but it annoyed him slightly.
Mikey raced out to the black 1957 Cadillac Eldorado, and popped the trunk. Gerard's bag was already in there. He tossed his bag in carelessly, and then got into the front seat of the car. Gerard walked out calmly, and closed the trunk, which Mikey had neglected to do, before he got into the drivers seat of the car, and started the engine.
Ten minutes later, Gerard pulled into his best friend, Ray's driveway. He honked the horn, and the frizzy haired boy came running out of the house. "Close the door, Ray!" Gerard could hear Ray's father shout after him. Ray spun and shut his front door.
"Pop the trunk, would you Gee?" He asked, he had his lap top bag, along with his carrying bag, which was packed with whatever he would need at the Shore.
Gerard popped the trunk, and Ray fixed Mikey's bag, making more room for the other three bags that were going to be in the trunk. He set his bag down in the trunk, keeping his laptop with him, "Move it, little Way." Ray said, jerking the passangers side door open.
Mikey pouted at him, but unbuckled his seat belt, and got out of the car. Ray climbed in to the front seat, and grinned at Gerard, "So, we're going back."
"Yep, Mikey's never been." Gerard smiled at his friend before starting the car again.
Next stop was Bob's house. He pulled into the driveway, and Ray got out of the car. He pounded on Bob's front door. It swung open after a moment, and Bob shuffled out to the car, looking tired. "Didn't sleep?" Gerard inquired as the other boy approached the car.
Bob grunted in response.
Gerard popped the trunk, and once Bob got his stuff situated, and closed the trunk, he climbed into the car, sitting the opposite of Mikey, and once again they were on their way to pick up the smallest, and youngest member of their little group, Frank.
The entergetic young boy was already waiting in the driveway for his friends to show up. He threw his bag into the trunk as soon as it was opened, and then climbed over Bob's lap, sitting in the middle of Mikey and Bob.
"Gah! I'm so excited!" Frank giggled.
Mikey ruffled his hair, "Gerard, what's your summer wish?" He asked.
Gerard looked at his brother with the rear view mirror, "Huh... good question..." He said with a small frown, "I'd like to go skydiving, I suppose." He answered after a moment, "What about you Mikes?" He smirked a little.
The blonde boy furrowed his brow, "I want to go on the extreme scream without freaking the fuck out." He said after a moment, giggling a little. "Frank, what's yours?"
"I want to go to Jersey Shore. That's my summer wish." Frank replied, leaning on Mikey a little. He looked to Bob, "What about you?"
"Hmmm..." Bob's expression twisted into a thoughtful frown, "I want to try a smoke." He said, then he leaned over Ray's seat, "What about you?"
Gerard visibly gagged. He hated cigarettes with a burning passion.
Ray laughed a little, "My summer wish is to swim in the ocean." He answered quickly, having the most time to think about the question he knew he was going to be asked.
"You've never swam in the ocean?" Mikey teased.
Ray glared black at him, and he burst into laughter.
"They're waiting for us, Pete!" Joe shouted into the one story house. He was growing impatient, because Pete had been taking at least ten minutes.
Pete showed up around the corner, carrying a bag over his shoulder. "Remind me again, why am I going with you guys?" He asked.
Joe rolled his eyes, "Because you promised poor sweet Patrick that you'd go with him, because he's nervous about leaving his home town." He said.
"Right." Pete returned Joe's eye roll, and followed him out to the car.
Patrick was sitting in the back of the car, and Andy was sitting in the drivers seat of the 1975 Pontiac Firebird. The black car's engine purred quietly. "Took you long enough." Andy joked as Joe, and Pete both climbed into the car, Pete joining Patrick in the back, and Joe sitting up front with Andy, who had stopped drumming on the wheel.
Joe glared back at Pete, "Yeah, you can thank princess eyeliner here for that one." He growled, still glaring at Pete.
Andy started the car with a quiet laugh, "Now, that wasn't very nice, was it, Joe?" He scolded. Andy was kind of like a mother hen.
Patrick hugged Pete tightly as Andy pulled out of the driveway. "Jersey Shores!" He chirped excitedly, burying his face into Pete's neck. "I'm scared to leave..." His voice became less excited with his second sentence.
"Don't be." Pete said, patting his back gently. "Think of something else, Pat." He encouraged the younger boy.
Patrick's nose scrunched up and he sighed quietly, "Alright... uh... Pete, what's your summer wish?" He inquired, poking the older boy in the side.
Pete raised an eyebrow, "Well... let's see... I want to find my true love." He decided, ruffling Patrick's hair a little. "What's yours Joe?"
Joe looked back at him, "I want... huh... well... I guess I really want to find a new band to listen to..." He told Pete. "What about you, Andy?" He asked.
"Huh... I want to make a new friend, like a best friend." He smiled a little and looked back at the pair through the rear view mirror, "How about you? What's yours Pat?"
"A late night walk on the beach with the four of you, and whoever else we meet down in at the boardwalk, that we think worthy of joining us." Patrick nuzzled Pete some more before sitting up straight, and letting a wide yawn out, "This is going to be a long trip..."
