Skeletons in the closet
Holding grudges
Gerard stood at the park waiting. He came early in case Frank would be there already. Frank was no where to be seen.
Gerard shoved his hands in his sweatshirt pockets, he stood and looked around him frantically hoping to find a short figure come forward. But none did.
Another hour passed before Gerard completely gave up.
"Unbelievable." He growled, his teeth ached and began tearing through his gums, turning away he pulled his phone out, typing.
New message:
Thanks for bailing,
The weekend passed, Gerard was still upset about Frank bailing when he came back to school. He expected him to run up to him, apologizing but in bio, Frank was nowhere to be seen. Even at lunch Gerard turned his head in hopes to find him, but no luck. Why was he so interested in finding him? Shouldn't he be glad that Frank was no where to be seen? It would be logical for someone to never want to see someone again if they bailed.
The next few days were the same, Gerard gave up on finding Frank after two days. Assuming he was probably dead or something. Even though it wasn't logical, he still thought of it as a possibility.
He stopped in his tracks when a brunette was sitting at a lab table. His heart stopped and now it seemed impossible to face Frank. But why, he didn't do anything; its Frank who would be feeling this.
Gerard dropped his bag next to his desk, falling into his chair. He rested his head in his hands before hearing his name being called.
When he asked for the teacher to repeat what he said before, he was instructed to go back to a lab table, the one where Frank sat.
Gerard thought of turning around and telling the teacher he was sick and he had to go to the nurse, but Frank had already seen him. What would he do? He couldn't bring himself to step closer and stood still.
"Is there a problem, Mr. Way?" Called the teacher from behind.
Surprised, Gerard twisted himself around.
"Uh, no sir."
"Then get going, we don't have all day."
Gerard swallowed hard before forcing his legs towards Frank. At the table, Frank held his head in his hands. Gerard's stomach tied in knots, was he crying?
Gerard didn't dare to let words pass him mouth and stood next to him, pretending to read the packet that was passed around.
"How do you spell your last name?" Gerard was unaware of the words coming from him as he began writing down their names.
Frank pulled his head out from his hands, Gerard hadn't looked at him but he voice was nasally as he spoke.
"I-e-r-o."
Gerard finished writing and dropped his pencil, plugging a microscope in. Not intending on talking to Frank, or even looking at him. So far, Gerard lasted fifteen minutes without speaking another word to Frank or even looking at him, but why hadn't Frank protested? Was he mad at Gerard too?
Gerard didn't even care that he did all the work. He felt accomplished actually. Gerard turned around to return the glass slides when an arm caught him.
"Gerard, wait." A nasally voice called out.
Gerard felt his bones freeze, his heart raced. His tongue traced over his teeth, suspecting them to retract soon.
Gerard tugged his arm away, returning the slides. But without even thinking, he made eye contact with Frank on his way back.
He looked horrible, he could tell he didn't cry but his eyes were different, definitely different. And he was as pale as Gerard.
Gerard tore his gaze away, leaving Frank to clear up the rest of the lab as he turned in his packet.
He was the first one out when the bell rang. For some reason, Gerard pulled his phone out. Expecting a text from Frank, begging him to talk to him or something. But nothing. Frank hadn't even tried to contact him. The situation irritated him, and his teeth slipped. He needed to find Mikey and needed to get out of here.
