Dead.

Chapter Five

His eyes. Something about him. I stared at him, he stared at me. His raven hair was matted, his hazel eyes were bright. He was wearing a dark black tuxedo, reminding me of Death. He smirked a bit before turning his back to me and walking away. I stared at him in awe, but my trance was broken as Mikey's hand touched mine. He nervously looked around, "We shouldn't have come." His voice was shaky.

I looked at him, "We should go."

The mysterious man gave me the chills but I had no idea why. I decided right then and there that if I saw him again, I'd keep my distance. I followed close behind Mikey as he walked away from the heated crowd. Mikey asked as he walked, "You okay? You seem off."

"Yeah, I'm okay." I glanced over my shoulder. He was gone. Good. I looked back to Mikey, "You wanna go to my house?"

Mikey looked at me, grinned, "Really? I would-" A soft vibration suddenly went off. I looked down to Mikey's front jeans. He sighed aggressively as he reached inside his pocket and reeled out his phone. He answered, "Mikey speaking." His facial expression sadden, "Oh...okay, I guess." He hung up, "I can't." He didn't meet my eyes, "My mom needs things moved around the house before sun down."

I was a little disappointed, "Oh...that's okay, Mikey. Next time."

"Next time?" A smile formed.

I nodded, "Yeah."

Mikey's cheeks blushed a light pink, "Alright. I'll see ya tomorrow then. Be safe, Frank." He walked away from me.

I wasn't sure what to do next. I guess I could always head back to my apartment. It probably was a good idea since the sun was fading. I walked through the crowd that very slowly died down. I kept my eyes wide open, feeling tension build up my shoulders. Paranoia stuck me. Something about the man that I've seen before, made me feel very uncomfortable-but also intrigued. I don't remember seeing him in this small town, which was odd.

My apartment was around the corner from the memorial, which was great. I eased down when I approached my front door. I grabbed a hold of the knob just as the sun was about to set.

"Hello."

I paused as the voice behind me added, "I couldn't help but notice our eyes met back there."

I turned around and met his eyes again. He was still wearing the dark tuxedo that brought out his eyes. He smiled, his small teeth showing, "Can you talk?" He laughed.

I would admit that he was dashing for a man with tangled hair and a strong scent of cigarettes. Though, his presence made me un easy. I looked at him, "Hello."

He grinned, "So, you can talk." He joked. He took a step forward, "I don't mean to be a bother, but, do you know where Boulevard street is? I'm a little lost."

I rose a brow, "Lost? You're not familiar with this small town?"

He paused, as if he wasn't happy about my answer. He chuckled, "You caught me," His hazel eyes sparked, "I'm just looking for an excuse to talk to you."

His words caught me off guard, and I blushed. I looked away quickly so he wouldn't have seen. Then I remembered that I had promised myself that if I saw him again, I would avoid. I replied, my back turned to him, "What makes you think I want to talk to anyone?"

He didn't reply, not until I felt his hands touch my shoulders, "I have a hunch that you at least want to talk to me."

I reeled away from him, "The sun. It's setting." I said, trying to get my personal space back. My face was hot from blushing, I needed to get away before this turns into a romance.

He looked at me blankly before suddenly smiling, "Right. The new law. I guess I should go." He turned as if he was going to walk away, but he stopped and asked, "What's your name?"

A sudden question that I wasn't sure I should reply. I asked, "What's your name?"

He grinned, "Gerard."

I replied, "Frank."

Gerard smirked, "Frankie."

"Uh, sure." I said, before adding, "Bye now."

I knew he had something under his breath, but I couldn't make it out. It's not like it mattered. He was just a guy, that I won't ever see again.
