Mikey:

Telling Toro was laying the back of my mind. I wasn’t stupid...Frank was right. If I told, Gerard would go on a bigger rampage for my blood. The only thing that I was scared of, was facing Toro, eye to eye. I’m not a good liar. At all. And Frank knows that. Frank told me to stay with him-if this was before I knew about his secret, I would absolutely have no problem with that-but now, I’ve hesitated.

Frank rolled his eyes, “Mikey, you’re scared. I can see that-but you need to get it through your head that I would never hurt you.”

I laughed in nervousness as I walked out the door. Frank followed close by before he walked beside me. I said, “Isn’t it kinda dangerous to be walking around with Gerard on the loose?”

Frank scoffed, “You can’t show him that you’re scared-it makes you look weak.”

I straightened out my back, “Is that how you win?”

Frank paused, “No one wins-not in this game.”

“Ah, because you love one another.”

Frank stopped in his tracks. He didn’t seem happy, “Stay here, I’m going inside to get something to relax myself-"

“But you said-”

Frank rose his hand to silence me before walking inside the coffee shop. I frowned before scanning the streets. Random pedestrians, but no Toro or Gerard. I collected myself before leaning against the coffee window, taking out a ciggerette. I struggled to keep it in between my fingers. My free hand nervously pulled out my lighter. There was a break of sweat coming from the side of my forehead. Toro, the Detective. Gerard, the Raven. Both were dangerous in their own way.

My lighter slipped in between my fingers, clattering onto the pavement. I stared at it for a while before a hand appeared, lifting the lighter for me.
