Chapter Thirty
Ray's P.O.V
I had always told myself, "Don't take the cases personally." But this, this was too much. I bowed my head in shame, looking down at Jenna's body bag placed on a gurney stretch. I unzipped the bag, exposing a harsh stench out from the bag. I blew out from my mouth, disgusted. I covered my nose and mouth with my sleeve. I looked at Jenna's body. Her once tan skin had faded to white, her lips were blue...though, she seemed in peace. I whimpered, "I'm so sorry." I could have stayed longer, or watched over her. I could've protected her and caught the killer.
I zipped the bag up again, slowly.
I gave a sigh before facing a woman. She said, "It wasn't you fault. You couldn't have known."
"I wish I did." I replied. I looked at her, "Okay, tell me about what you saw again."
Her blond hair in a ponytail shook widely as she nodded, "Well," She stated, "I saw Jenna going into her car. But not alone. I saw a man going into the passenger seat as well. I ran after the car, but it was too late. I knew something was wrong..." She glanced at Jenna's body, "I miss her already."
I looked away, "I'm going to need your name."
"Haley." She added quickly, "I'm not next, right?"
"No, a male is next. And I know who take in for questioning."
"Who?"
"It's confidential." I added, "The Sheriff and Deputy will take care of you."
Haley didn't seem satisfied, but she nodded. I walked away from her, stopping a couple feet away from the yellow tape that separated the crowd and the scene. I scanned the area, searching for Gerard or Frank-but I could not find them. I placed my hands on my hip, my eyes taking another look. I shook my head, feeling my fro shake, "This...this isn't what I wanted."
I really like this story and I hope you can update soon :)
