Keep Running

With Cheap Champagne

For the next two days, after their encounter, Gerard and Frank didn't talk all that much. Gerard had given Frank his Ipod in a silent exchange, and that was the last contact they had for the rest of the day. Frank went about his way, laying in the back of the van, making no trouble. They stopped at service stations and refilled gas and took a piss every so often, but other wise, they were trapped in the four sides of the van. By the end of Thursday, Frank had gone out of his mind. He was going nuts just sitting in the back of the van day in, day out; Gerard had noticed this behavior, and thought Frank needed a lift.

When they were at a service station one day, Frank noticed Gerard was ten minutes or so longer than he should of been; he was weighing up the possibilities in his head (which came to either Gerard had murdered some more innocents, or he was getting of in the toilet) when the van door swung open, and in popped the driver, looking flushed from the wind.

For the rest of the journey (to where ever they were stopping that night), Gerard seemed quite cheery. He even turned on the radio for an hour or so and was singing along to the cheesy tunes that the crappy station played in the day.

After an hour of singing and banter, the news broadcast came on.

"Breaking news; a boy, named by his mother as Franklin Iero, has gone missing in the New Jersey..." was all Frank heard, after Gerard turned it off hurriedly.

"What was that?" Frank asked, curiously.

"Nothing," Gerard said way too quickly for Frank's liking; he was up to something. Frank was slow, but he wasn't stupid.

"The radio said my name."

"Yes, well done. They are all looking for you back home. Your mother has done a press conference saying "Oh! I miss him so much and whoever knows where he is, please, bring him home!""

"How did you get that from 10 seconds of speech?"

"Tone of voice, the way the were saying it, you could hear them scuffling around in the back ground trying to get the sound clip to play. Oh, that and it is /so/ cliche."

"Oh... yeah... because that was /so/ obvious." Frank said, trying to take the mickey out of Gerard's flouncy attitude.

"Anyway, stop being a miserable fuck. I have a surprise." Gerard pulled the van up to a stop, and turned around to face Frank. He picked something up from the passenger seat, and waved it in front of Frank's face; it was a bottle -Champagne.

Gerard got out of the car, and rushed around the back to get the door open for Frank. He was so glad to get the wind in his hair and breathe fresh air for the first time in days.

They walked round to the front of the van, and looked. The view was magnificent; it was a view of a city, where ever they were. There were so many buildings, and lights and distant sounds drifting to their ears; it was like the movies.

"So much for cliche." Frank said, and Gerard smiled.

For the next 2 hours, they sat (mostly in silence) and listened and watched the city, slowly falling asleep. They were content with each other's company and they swigged from the bottle, one at a time until it was all gone. By that time, they were both drunk, and they were fooling around, play twenty questions.

"Have you ever had a girlfriend, Frank?" Gerard asked. Frank (even in his drunken state) could feel himself getting embarrassed. He knew this would come out sooner or later.

"Yeah... a few times... but it never really worked, you know?" Frank stuttered, all over the place. Gerard just watched him; he was studying Frank so he could ask the right questions, and get the right information.

"Frank... Are you... Gay?" Gerard said, edging towards him, ever nearer. Frank found himself growing weak in the knees, and getting redder in the cheeks. His hands were sweaty and shaking.

"Y-Y-Yeah..." Frank replied uneasily.

"Good." Gerard said prudently and decisively.

He cupped Frank's jaw in his palms, and wrapped him fingers around the back of his neck. He pulled the smaller male towards him, slowly, and pressed his lips to Frank's gently. He opened his mouth slightly and took Frank's bottom lip in his, making the captive shiver. Gerard pulled away and pressed his forehead against Frank's, gasping a little for breath.

"Very fucking Good."
