Keep Running

Well Lets Go Back To The Middle Of The Day That Starts It All.

Frank was tapping his pencil in time to the seconds on the clock. Tick. Tick. Tick. 15 minutes until the end of the goddamn day, and he could get out of here. Tick. Tick. Tick.
"Frank Iero! Will you stop that at once! It's incredibly annoying and it's putting everyone else off! Thank You!" She said ever so elongated and sarcastically. Frank looked around. No-one else give a shit whether he tapped or not. So he started again.
"FRANK!"
"What?"
"STOP IT!" He didn't see what the big deal about tapping his pen was, but he was happy to shut up if it meant getting out of school on time. He put his head down on the desk and curled his arms around him. Just as he was getting in the middle of quite a good slumber, the bell rang, stools scraped, and Frank dragged himself upright.

He scanned the room for Mikey, his best, and sometimes he felt as if, his only friend.
"Hey man! What was the deal with the teacher? She was a total bitch today!"
"Well, apparently she doesn't like pencil tapping, that's for sure. Hey, what you doing later dude?"
"Oh um..." Frank pretty much knew the answer already. He could never get any time with Mikey now. Not that he minded, Mikey was pretty goddamn annoying sometimes. "I'm.. uh.. Going out with Liss.. You wanna come?" Liss, or Alicia as she was called, was Mikey's on/off girlfriend that couldn't make her mind up about him. She would always hurt him, and then creep her way back into his life when she was feeling sorry for herself. Frank could see why Mikey liked her so much though. She was pretty, a fair height and had lovely eyes. Not Frank's type though. What was Frank's type?
"No thanks, I can't handle being there while you two play tonsil tennis. I'll pass tonight, thanks anyway."
"Oh well, We'll have to do something this weekend though. You free Saturday?"
"I don't know.. Perfecting my pencil tapping skills that day... aha..." Frank reached up and scratched the back of his neck. His joke hadn't turned out as good as it sounded in his head.
"Pleaseee?" Mikey whined. He continued to this annoying habit until Frank agreed.
"Fine, fine, okay. Come round about 5, and you can stay the night?"
"Sounds great. Catch you later, dude." Mikey said, gave a wave and trundled off down the corridor. Frank watched as we put his arm around Alicia's waist and they started kissing, and walking. He curled his lip up in pure disgust.

Frank turned around and walked 50 meters to his locker. His was right next to some Senior he had no idea who he was, but he looked pretty cool. He noticed he was wearing some misfits t-shirts pretty much all the time, along with Iron Maiden and AC-DC. But today, he wasn't wearing any of those. He was wearing a Cold Play T-Shirt.
"Cold Play, seriously?" Frank muttered under his breath.
"I wouldn't be wearing it if my friend hadn't spilled coffee on my best t-shirt this morning, believe me. Frank gave a carefree laugh under his breath and started to walk down the corridor. This guy managed to catch up with him though., It wasn't hard. Frank's legs weren't exactly long and this other guy was the size of a football player. He had a fro, that was sort of floppy and deep brown eyes.
"So, you don't like Cold Play then?" He asked Frank, trying to slow down before he outran the smaller male.
"No. Not particularly." He replied, looking at this senior with a sudden interest in the subject of music. "I do, however, LOVE The Misfits, and Iron Maiden, but I haven't really heard of AC-DC before you wore the T-shirts though!" Frank replied with a bit over-enthusiastically. The other male looked at him as if he was on crack. He wasn't really, he was just a hyper teenager on a diet of skittles and coffee.
"Aha, cool. I'm Ray by the way. Oh god, that rhymes." Ray smiled, but Frank stayed neutral with just a glint in his eye.
"Anyway, gotta run, my friend is waiting for me in the parking lot. See-ya... Um.. What's your name?"
"Frank. Frank Iero."
"Oh okay, Bye Frank!" Ray waved and walked (more like ran in Frank's terms) over to the parking lot.

Frank was just as thankful as ever to be away from the classroom. He always felt so trapped inside the walls of the school. He walked home, and decided to take a different way to the busy roads and streets, and took the alleys, which took him about 20 minutes longer journey than usual but it was more worth it. It was always quieter and he could play his music as loud as he wanted. He untangled his earphones out of his pocket and plugged them into his Ipod. He turned on shuffle on his est playlist: Heavy rock. He plugged his mini speakers into his ears and set off down the alleys.

He was heading down the longest and most twisted alley he could turn down on his way home. He was head-banging and singing at the top of his voice when he heard some shouting coming from near by. He didn't run ahead to see what it was. Instead, he took out his head phones and crept forward slowly. The noise got louder as he approached a corner.
"I'll give you the money, just please, let me go. I have my family, my friends..."
"And you think I care? Really?" Frank poked his head around the corner to see a tall man with long, matted raven hair and he was dressed all in black. He had a knife in his hand, and he was holding a man up against the wall of the alley. He wished he hadn't come down this way now. He was shaking as if he was cold, and it was the midst of summer.
"Please... Let me gOOOOOOOO! AAAAAH!" The man screamed as the tall man plunged the knife into his heart.
"Will you fucking learn now? Will you? WILL YOU?" The man with the knife screamed. He plunged the knife further into his heart. The man turned a ghostly shade of pale and dropped to the floor. The man pulled the knife out of the mans body, and put it into his belt safely. He checked for a pulse before pulling away from the body. Obviously, the job was done, and it was done well.

He turned around and headed towards where Frank was still onlooking this situation. Frank pulled away from the corner and started to speed-walking in the other direction. He didn't run in case to make to much noise. The Tall man pulled out of the alley when frank was just about turning the corner. Frank froze. The man froze too. They just realized they had both been foiled. Frank started to sprint down the rest if the alley, and the man started running after him. He was fast, but Frank was faster. Frank could manage small slight jumps rather than a sprint, because he was light on his feet.
This got him a lot further than the tall, well built (not fat, but muscly, but not pop-eye either) man. Frank finally turned the corner to his street and slowed down. He was sure the man had long gone, and taking a confirming look over his shoulder, he was right. He got to his house, opened the door, and went inside. No-one was home, but he ran up to his bedroom, turned on his music - LOUD - and blocked out the world.

What the hell had he just witnessed?
