I'm so far away from you

I groan as my pesky alarm wakes me up. Gerard is already up and dressed sat next to me on his phone.
"Hey who you texting?"
"Just my brother, Mikey."
"Oh cool. I haven't met him before."
"Yeh he goes to a different school to us.."
"What school?"
"The Sunshine School for special children" Gerard looks down miserably
"Oh, I see." feeling sorry for Gerard I pat his knee.
"He isn't even special. Well he wasn't.. My Dad.. paralyzed him. Mikey's brain still works fine yet my Mum still sends him to bloody sunshine school!"
I look at Gerard puzzled and ask "Why would you're Dad do that to his son?"
"He was a crazy drunk man."
"Was?"
"Yeh.. He's no longer with us" Gerard smiles devilishly to himself, I stare at Gerard wondering if he was the reason for this.
"So... Did you kill him?"
"What I'm really that transparent. Well yes..yes I did. He was the only person I ever killed though, it was last April. Dad came home drunk as usual. It was about 2am and Mikey was having one of his midnight snacks. Dad suddenly stormed into the kitchen and was mad at Mikey for no good reason. Anyway I over heard the argument ran downstairs to find Mikey knocked out on the floor, with a bloody nose, black eye and crumpled looking legs. That's when I'd had enough of my Dad and I grabbed a knife off the counter and stabbed him several times in the stomach as he screamed at me.. Mum never found out, I threw his body in a lake and Mum just assumed he had abandoned us. Look I've never told anyone about this before, not even Mikey. Please keep this a secret."
"I swear on my life I won't tell anyone, Gerard."
"Okay, good. Now put some clothes on it's time for school."
