I woke yp bright light all around me. I hear someone crying next to me. That cry itnsounds firmiliar. My vision begans to become clear. I look around and sat next to me is my brother Gerard. Hes crying. Whys he crying?
"Gerard?"
"Oh god mikey your awake."
"Why wouldnt I be?"
"Whats the last thing you remember?"
"Falling asleep in my room. Where are we?"
"Oh god you dont remember any of it. Of course you wouldnt."
"Remember what?"
"Mikey" he looks down to his hands "there was a fire at the house. Mom didnt get out and you almost didnt either."
"What? No mom cant be dead she cant be. This is a prank. Thats what it is. Gerard tell me this is all just a big joke and mom will walk through those doors any second. "
"Im afraid its not a joke."
"No no no no no no no" I keep repeating no getting quieter and quieter each time. This cant be happening this cant happen. We're orphans. No no no.
"Mikey im sorry. Atleast we arent going to be split up right now. We are going to the same orphanage. Bad news its ten hours away we have to restart our lives completely.
