The Boy With The Scorpion Tattoo

It was now the weekend and Gerard had asked me if I wanted to hang out. It turned out that Mikey was hanging out with Ollie (Not that Gerard knew that yet) so Gerard was bored and needed the company.

Kellin drove me to Gerard’s apartment even though it wasn’t a long walk but I was thankful because I was feeling lazy today.

After getting out the car and waving goodbye to Mama Kellin, I rang on Gerard’s apartment number. The door made a buzzing noise a few seconds later. I had texted him to let him know I was outside anyway to save the awkward conversation through the speaker.

I took the elevator (Obviously) and was happy to find his door already open for me. This was
the first time Gerard and I were to hang out alone together and I was rather excited. I have come to terms with my feelings for him although I think it took me longer than necessary. But he was a teacher and a friend so I didn’t see anything happening between us honestly. Oh but I boy can hope.

The first thing I said as I walked through the door was “I want to go to the beach.”
Gerard was sprawled out over the couch and when I walked in he immediately sat up but then furrowed his eyebrows at my random announcement.

“Why the beach?” He sniffed, looking rather grossed out at the thought of being close to water and sunlight. He ran a hand through his mass of black hair and then patted the spot next to him on the couch.

I walked over to him and sat next to him, immediately finding myself wrapped in his arms and pulled against his side. It was something he always did when sat next to me. I didn’t mind it in the slightest and tried my best to ignore my blush.

“Please, Gee? I know it’s a little too late in the year but it could be fun!” I all but squealed, my eyes wide and pleading. I saw his face soften when I looked into his eyes and couldn’t help but grin when he nodded.

“Okay but I’m going to give you my jacket to wear. You could catch a cold or something.” He reasoned and I nodded my head eagerly, anything to get him to agree.

I loved the beach. Back in Italy my Grandma lived near the most beautiful beach. The water was bright blue and the sand was soft and white. We used to have picnics there all the time and it became our favourite place together. I know the New Jersey beaches will look like nothing compared to the Italian beaches but I still enjoyed going, no matter the time of year.

Gerard got two jackets for us and his wallet, keys and phone. When we were outside the apartment block he wrapped the jacket around me, allowing me time to put my arms through the sleeves. It was too big for me and I couldn’t help but blush when Gerard made an ‘Aww’ sound.

“To the beach!” I yelled and started walking.

“Uhh…” Gerard said behind me, “The beach is the other way Frankie.”

I swiftly turned and yelled, “To the beach… again!” And Gerard giggled, taking my hand in his making me blush again. Did he like me like everyone was saying?

Luckily for us the beach wasn’t that far so it only took one bus ride to get there. Gerard explained to me that it was better for the environment than a car for such a short journey. I couldn’t argue with him there to be honest.

Not once did he let go of my hand and I could feel the butterflies build within my stomach. Dammit I was so gone for.

The beach itself was pretty standard looking. Nothing special. It was empty because it was too cold for anyone to visit, only occasional dog walker.

We walked along the sea line for a while before Gerard offered to buy us some French fries to share. It was just after lunch so happily agreed to food.

After the fries and an ice cream each Gerard found us a nice spot to sit along the rocks. It was nice, looking out towards the ocean whilst holding hands with Gerard. A small voice in my head was telling me stop, he's my teacher but a bigger and pinker and fluffier part of me was saying heeeeee.

We were silent, only the noise of the waves sounding before Gerard spoke.

“Frankie… I like you.” He said, shifting uncomfortably on the rock but never letting go of my hand. I squeezed his hand and tilted my head at him, I probably looked like a confused puppy.

“I like you too, Gee.” I said but he shook his head and furrowed his eyebrows slightly.

“No, I mean… I like you more than I should. More than friends and more than a teacher should their student.” He explained and my eyes widened. He liked me? I thought this stuff only happened in the movies or books? I kept silent for a minute and I could tell the tension was killing Gerard before I spoke.

“I like you too ,Gee.” I repeated. “It terrifies me but being with you makes me feel like the safest person in the world” I carried on and I saw his shoulders noticeably sag from tension.

“Oh thank god.” He muttered and I couldn’t help but giggle into the sleeve of his jacket. I shifted so I was on my knees and turned his face towards me. He looked down at my lips for a few seconds before looking back up to my eyes.

And then… we kissed.
