Burn Bright

Bandit watched in horror as her father turned into a wolf and tackled Mikey to the ground. She could not understand why she was a falcon, it made no sense, she was destined to be a wolf. That is what she had been told her entire life, Bandit pushed aside her confusion and dived to the ground. Before she hit the floor, she felt herself morph into her human form again. Mikey was trying to push his brother off of him, but his wolf form was incredibly strong. Suddenly his forearm erupted in a fiery pain, Mikey screamed, his brother had clamped his jaws on his arm.

Mikey knew he couldn't change now, if he did his brother would surely break his wig. Mikey could hear Bandit screaming at her father to stop, he could see tears running down her cheeks. “Gerard you have to stop, look at your daughter, you're scaring her!” Mikey stated, trying to sound firm. Gerard let go of his brother’s forearm and looked at Bandit. Mikey heard him let out a small whimper and change back into a human.

Mikey slowly sat up, seething as a throbbing pain shot up his arm, blood poured from the puncture wounds. He carefully got to his feet, and watched as Gerard stepped towards Bandit. A look of horror was painted on her face, she was terrified of her father, she had never seen him this upset. When he began to walk towards Bandit she backed away from him, she shook her head violently and changed into a falcon again, she was gone before Gerard could even shout her name.

Mikey ripped some fabric from his shirt and wrapped it around his wound. Gerard turned around and faced his younger brother. He was furious at Mikey, “This is all your fault!”

“My fault? How is this my fault? You're the one that bit me and scared her away!” Mikey shouted, Gerard stormed towards Mikey and grabbed the collar of his shirt.

“It's obvious now! She's your daughter! How could you do that to me?” Gerard screamed his face turning red.

Mikey was shocked, he suddenly realized why Gerard was so upset, “Is that what you think? There is no way she is mine! I never slept with Lindsay…I would never do that to you!” Mikey explained, however Gerard’s hand came down fast onto Mikey's cheek, making Mikey's head snap to the right.

“Stop lying to me! She has always had your spirt, your rebellious attitude! And now this! She changed into a falcon for christ’s sake! She has to be yours!” Gerard growled.

“I'm not lying Gerard! She is not my daughter!” Gerard threw Mikey to the ground, who groaned in pain as he landed on his injured arm.

“You are a disgrace to this tribe Mikey, I do not want to see you ever again. If you're smart you'll leave and won't return here ever again.” Gerard snapped, Mikey looked up at his brother with an incredulous look.

“Y-you can't banish me Gerard, I'm your brother! You can't do this!” Mikey pleaded, “Gerard I promise you that Bandit isn't mine! She is your daughter! I don't know why she changed into a falcon. Please you have to believe me!”

“Enough Michael, I have made my decision! You will not return to the tribe…ever again.” Gerard stated, his tone flat. He changed into a wolf and left his brother.

Mikey slowly stood back up, he had never felt so alone in his life. He changed into a falcon a flew off, away from the tribe.
