Welcome To Arcadia

Gerard's P.O.V My mouth dropped open as I took in the view. It was amazing. It looked like our world untouched by man. The air was clear. But the people were...strange. All kinds of....species were walking around. Ghouls and dragons were having conversations. Harpies and vampires walking around, hand in hand. Fairies buzzing around like little bugs. Dwarfs and giants eating around a table. It looked like something from a movie set. But more...real. I turned back to Serenity. She'd changed back to her real form. She was talking to a unicorn?
"When did you last see Meridian?" She asked it.
The unicorn...spoke? "Last week, your highness." It said. "We were having lunch at arcane row. She left with Gray."
Serenity frowned. "Where's Gray now?"
The unicorn shook it's head. "I don't know. He hasn't been seen since." It put it's head down. "Forgive me for saying this but I think he took her to the high witch."
Serenity shook her head. "Don't worry, Jasmina. I think the same." She hugged her. "Don't ever be afraid to speak your mind to me."
Jasmina bowed then walked away.
Serenity took my hand and led me to the giant and dwarf at the table. "Greetings master Harkness, mistress Standing." She greeted them. "This is my friend, Gerard."
The giant smiled. "Pleased to meet you, Gerard." He said. "I've never met a human before."
I smiled back. "Pleased to meet you too." I said back. "I've never met a giant before either. Infact I've never met anyone like the people of your world."
"Your making him nervous, Harkness." The dwarf piped up. She put her tiny hand out to me. "I'm Standing."
Harkness laughed. "Yet your still shorter than him."
Standing slapped his leg, playfully but laughed back.
Serenity smiled. "Now now you two." She said. "Play nice infront of our guest."
"Sorry." Harkness muttered, laughing.
Serenity led me away to stop by a red dragon. "Hey there, Fallon." She called. "How are you today?"
The dragon...Fallon snorted. "I miss Meridian." It moaned.
Serenity sighed. "I know." She muttered. "So do I." She grabbed Fallon's...paw...hand? "Is there anything you can tell me about her disappearance? Or anything that might help? Doesn't matter how small or silly you think it is."
Fallon put her head down. "Gray was mean to me."
Serenity frowned, her grip on my hand tightened slightly. "How?"
"When Meridian wasn't looking, he'd tighten my collar..."
Serenity looked mad. "A collar? Why were you wearing a collar?"
Fallon looked surprised. "Gray said you demanded all dragons wear collars."
"I did no such thing." Serenity said. "Collars are degrading. They are for ownership. My people are ALL free. No one owns anyone. Ever."
Fallon smiled, shyly. "Do you mean that?" She asked.
Serenity calmed herself down. "Yes." She said, softly. "I promised change. I promised things would be better. I don't break promises."
"Thank you, your highness."
"Serenity."
Fallon's smile widened. "Serenity."
"What else did Gray do?" She asked, gently.
"He told me I was nothing. I don't matter. I wasn't wanted. He said Merdian only talked to me because she felt sorry for me." Fallon had tears in her eyes.
"That is not true." Serenity told her. "Meridian told me on numerous occasions that she thought you were amazing. She loves you like a sister. You are so much more than you realise. You do matter to everyone who knows you. Don't EVER forget that."
"Thank you, your....Serenity. "
After saying their goodbyes, Serenity led me to her home. A large fairytale type castle. She led me past several species of guards till we came to a large bedroom. Complete with four poster bed and couch at the foot of the bed. She pulled me to sit beside her on the couch, turning to look at me as she held both my hands in hers.
"I'm sorry." She said, looking down at our hands.
I frowned. "What for?" I asked.
"I brought you here because I was being selfish." She admitted.
"How so?"
"I didn't want to come home without...you."
I smiled as I lifted her chin. "I'm glad you didn't." I said as I leaned in to kiss her.
