Meet Mr. Way

Three

Angelica looked at all the stuff she had packed in her bag. The weekend was about to begin and this time she knew, that after all that had happened, it would be better if she just went home.

The sun was starting to set and most people would already be gone by now, but her would only arrive later. Her bed was already made and her things waiting by the side of the door.
Almost an hour later her father finally called her cell phone, and she prepared herself to meet him.

She walked to into the main hall, the luggage in her hands making her walk slower, when she noticed him. Mr. Way, or Gerard like he had told her to call him, talked with two people, a man and a woman Angelica had recognized as being her math teacher. She was almost sure they were talking about her.

The teacher looked at her and her eyes widened, quickly excusing herself to leave. The much taller man that was with them accompanied her as she walked up the stairs. Gerard looked at Angelica, sending her an almost imperceptible smile.

“Going home this weekend?” He walked toward her.

“Yes, it’s for the best.” She placed a strand of her long dark hair behind her ear. “Thanks for not saying anything to my father.”

“No problem. But maybe you should try to talk to those girls. You could end up being friends.”

Angelica laughed internally at his statement. She was sure they hated her right now.

“Anyway,” he continued and picked a card from his pocket. “This is my phone number, in case you need someone to talk to.” She accepted his card and stared at it for a while. “Just try not to get yourself into trouble again, okay? I’d hate to see you coming into my office again.” There was a hint of tease in his voice.

She looked at him after putting the card away. Angelica wanted to answer his remark, but just as she was about to speak a voice made her stop.

“Angelica!” A dark haired man in his forties shouted.

“That’s my father, I have to go.” She immediately looked down.

“Of course,” he nodded. “Have a nice weekend.” The girl didn’t answer him back.

Michael Way, or Mikey as he was sweetly called by his loved ones, sat at the dinner table with a slice of pizza in one hand and a beer in the other. It had been a while since Gerard had seen his brother, and since it was the weekend and he was finally allowed a break, they decided to spend it together.

There was something troubling his older brother, Mikey had noticed when they spoke on the phone, but so far Gerard had made no remark of the subject. When the right time came for the male, he would share his troubles with his sibling. It was always like this.

"So..." Gerard had started, after a few moments of silence as they ate the amazing pizza from Mikey's favorite place down the street from his house. He didn't exactly know how to start this conversation with his brother, without giving important details away, that couldn't be given. "I met this young woman..."

Mikey had a smirk on his lips as soon as his brother said that last sentence. It wasn't every day that Gerard had girl problems he wanted to share with the younger sibling. However, if he was coming to him, it was because it troubled his sleep. "Go on." The male encouraged.

Gerard sighed, placing the bottle of beer back on the table before speaking again. "She's a bit younger, and not exactly like myself, as my previous girlfriends." He explained. "But there's something quite intriguing, and interesting to say the least. I just don't know if it's a good idea to start and make a move."

His brother wasn't the biggest ladies man, but he still was good at giving advice. Considering Gerard didn't want to share these feelings with anyone else, who better to do so than his own sibling?

Mikey sat up in his chair, nodding before letting out a shrug. "If you like her, why not? You're never going to get securities when it comes to falling for someone. If she's so interesting, and alluring enough for you to come to me about it, then I say go for it. A 'no' is always guaranteed."

He wasn't wrong, and if this was that easy, Gerard wouldn't have needed to come to his brother for help. However, there were those important yet secret details he wouldn't reveal.

And the biggest one, he feared, was that he had begun feeling severely interested in Angelica. His own student.
