Frank stomped up the stairs, sweaty and stressed out. Once he’d flung himself into his apartment he immediately collapsed onto the couch, feet dangling over the edge. He had had a pretty irritating day, having forgotten to write his paper for Mr. Sponic, his most strict professor, and not being able to get Gerard out of his head.

The doorbell sounded, interrupting his moping. He figured it was the landlord come to pester him about rent, Frank was sort of inbetween jobs at the moment and a bit behind on rent, if you consider two months “a bit” behind.

He yanked the door open to come face to face with an out of breath Gerard, the older man stood there panting for a moment before straightening, pushing his hair out of his face, and turning to stare at Frank, who stared back.

Frank shifted his weight to one leg and assessed Gerard’s state. He was in a button up shirt, his tie was undone and hanging at an odd angle, and his slacks were sagging slightly.

“Frank,” he began, looking desperate. “I-”

He was cut off when Frank attempted to slam the door in his face, Gerard reacted quickly, putting his foot in the door frame. Frank sighed and pulled the door open again.

“Gerard, what the hell, I told you to-”

“Just listen to me, please.” Gerard begged.

Frank sighed, scrubbing a hand over his face. “Fine, you have five minutes.”

“Okay,” Gerard sighed, “I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you, Frank, and I know it seems like I’m just a weird dude trying to cheat on his husband, but I think I,” He gulped, “I think I genuinely like you.”

“Gerard, I can’t-”

“Just, if I weren’t married would you?”

Frank looked down. Of course he would be willing to go out on some cliche date if Gerard were single, there’d be no reason not to.

“Yes.” Gerard sighed again, relieved. “But you are married, so go home, Gerard, please.”

Gerard suddenly looked very distressed, “Frank, I can’t just forget about you.”

“You’re married, I don’t think you realize how serious that is.”

He stared at Frank for a while before hanging his head and nodding. “You’re right I’m sorry, I just haven’t felt like this in a while, this was stupid of me.”

“I’m sorry Gerard, I really like you too, if it were different-”

“I know, Frank, I know.” He rubbed his palms into his eyes before looking hesitantly at Frank. “Can I just-” He gulped. “Just have one more kiss, please.”

Frank glanced around the walkway, as if expecting to see someone watching them.

“Y- yeah, just one more.”

He leant forward hesitantly, Gerard’s palm slid up his face and tilted his head slightly. Their mouths met, they both stilled, simply applying pressure to the other’s lips. Gerard finally began to massage Frank’s lips with his own, Frank pulled away a bit too soon for Gerard’s liking, but he didn’t voice his complaint.

“Bye Frank.”

“Bye Gerard.” Frank clicked his apartment door shut.

When Gerard entered his home he was greeted by his husband flinging himself into Gerard’s arms.

“Gee, thank god. I thought-” A tear ran down his face. “I thought you’d left me, I was so scared.”

Gerard felt guilty, Lyle had been at home crying while he tried to convince another man to be with him. Sure, Frank was special, very special, but Gerard was married, he was just lucky Frank wasn’t the type to encourage cheating.

“I’m sorry, babe, I’m just stressed thats all.” Gerard rubbed circles into his husband’s back.

“Where’d you stay last night?’

“Motel.” Gerard lied almost immediately.

Lyle nodded, “Sorry for yelling and stuff. I thought I’d finally driven you away, that you’d found someone else, but you’re just too good to me, you would never do something like that.”

“Yeah,” Gerard lied again, “Never."
