The windows were rolled down half way, allowing the wind to cool the interior of the old, worn car. The air conditioner had broken at some point and the car had grown humid quickly. The inhabitants of the car were eager. Eager to see their new house, eager to get out of the cramped car, eager to start over.

“So,” Lyle began, dark hair being tossed about by the wind, “You said the house is completely furnished?”

“Yeah,” Gerard grinned, keeping his eyes on the road, “Amazing, right?”

“Especially for the price.” Lyle agreed, phone tilted away from the sun as he scrolled through his playlist, sighing, he shoved the device back into his pocket, not in the mood for music, apparently. He looked down at his lap, focusing on the sound of the motor as it tried to keep up with the car.

“Hey babe,” He whispered suddenly, looking at Gerard through his hair, “Do you- do you think this is gonna work?”

“What do you mean?” Gerard glanced at Lyle briefly before focusing on the interstate once more.

“Like,” Lyle hesitated, twisting the wedding band around his finger, “You think we’ll stop fighting so much? I mean, I know i’m usually the one who provokes it, it’s just that sometimes-”

“Honey,” Gerard cut him off, reaching over to grab his hand, “We’re gonna be okay.”

“You really think so?”

“I know so.”

“Holy Shit, did you see this bathroom?” Gerard craned his head around the door frame to see what Lyle was yelling about, the bathroom was pretty nice. Marble counter tops, two sinks, an industrial sized shower.

“Damn,” Gerard commented, stepping the rest of the way into the master bathroom.

“Look at the size of that shower.” Lyle remarked, voice reverberating off of the walls.

Gerard slid behind him, winding his arms around his husbands waist and whispering, “Big enough for two people.”

Lyle shivered as his husband kissed down his neck. Gerard was right, things were going to get better.
