This Ain't A Party, Get Off The Dance Floor
Chapter 2: My Old Friends Become Ex's Again
Frank's Point of View
I was thrown into a fit of coughing as I entered the diner, I clapped my hand over my mouth, to prevent the blood spray. I pull my hand away as I stopped coughing, and grabbed a napkin. I wiped my hand on the napkin, and threw it away. I flinched the second my eyes caught the black hair of the man I had met last night at the bar. What the honest fuck?
I quickly crossed the floor because I saw that he, and the man he was with were looking at me. I sat at the bar, and a woman came up to me, "Can I get you a drink, sweetie?" She cooed. I scowled, "A coke." I hissed through gritted teeth. She flinched away from me, and hurried off to get my drink.
I erupted into another fit of coughing, and I almost didn't hear my phone ring. I checked the caller ID. Why the hell was Patrick calling me? I answered the phone reluctantly, "Hello. Haven't heard from you in awhile." Irritation was clear in my voice. "H-hi Frank." He was stammering like usual, it made a small smile dance across my lips. "What's up, Patrick?" I asked, wondering why he was calling me.
"I'm in New York, and wondering if you'd care for a visit? I'm actually looking at you from across the restaurant." I turned around, and immediately spotted Patrick by his stupid hat. He waved at me, smiling brightly, and I hung up, beckoning him over. He shot up, drawing attention of that boy I had met. I saw him turn to whisper to the boy he was with, who proceeded to blush harshly, and shove him.
Patrick joined me, resting his head on my shoulder. He and I had known each other since the first grade, but when I had moved to New York last year, we had stopped talking. I've had a couple affairs with him behind his wife's back, but it had been strictly sexual. No actually dating, just heated, passionate sex.
It was weird, thinking that such a sweet guy was capable of that. "How's the kid?" I questioned before he had a chance to fall asleep on my shoulder. "Declan? He's fine." He answered, a sad underlay to his voice, and I knew why.
Elisa was a slut, and there was no way to know if Declan was his child or not, besides a DNA test that Patrick refuses to take.
Patrick sat up when the boy that was with Gerard tapped his shoulder, and he turned around "Uhm... are you two together?" He stammered. Then I turned around, and Patrick's eyes lit up, "No! We're just friends!" He blurted out, and I chuckled. "Alright well uh... my er... friend is making me do this." He grabbed Patrick's hand, and dropped a crumpled piece of paper in his palm. Patrick was smiling from ear to ear, and I thought that his face was going to split in half as the man walked away.
Then I began to cough again.
"What's wrong?" Patrick asked, rubbing my back. "Nothing, Patrick. I said, using a napkin to wipe the blood from my mouth. He looked at me, concern sparkling in his eyes. I hugged him, reassuringly. "I'm sure that nothings wrong." I said with a small smile. He sighed quietly. "No you're not." He whined.
"Look, I'll tell you later..." I promised him. He grunted and sighed quietly. "Fine."
I kissed his cheek and stood up, "How about you come over later." I invited. "I'll text you my address." He nodded happily, and his eyes flashed pleadingly at me, and I laughed quietly. I kissed him gently, and then I walked away.
I felt eyes burning into my skull, and turned around. The man from the bar last night, was staring at me as I left, and so was his brother. I heard movement, and then I saw Mikey cross the floor to take my seat by Patrick.
Mikey's Point of View
My brother nudged my arm, and pointed to a shorter man in the corner of the room, "He's kinda cute." He commented, and I turned around, my heart leaping to my throat. He was totally adorable. Oh my god. He got up and crossed the floor to the man who had entered in with a fit of coughing.
"Go give him your number." I heard my brother, saying slightly louder then a whisper. I flinched, and stared at him for a moment. "Why?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. He scoffed, "Because you haven't had a date in a million years." He said. I frowned, "Fine!" I said, rather loudly. Gerard scribbled my number down, writing a little heart beside my name, before handing me the paper, and crushed it in my hand, before getting up, and crossing the floor. I tapped the ginger-haired man's shoulder and he straightened out and turned around. Not wanting to cause trouble, I asked, "Uhm... are you two together?" The second man turned around, and I saw the first mans eyes light up. "No! We're just friend!" He blurted out. I heard the other man laugh quietly.
"Alright well uh... my er... friend is making me do this." I said, grabbing his hand and dropping the crumpled paper in the boys hand. I swear to god he was going to split his face in half as he grinned, and I turned to walk away.
"How'd it go?" My brother persisted. I grinned, "Fine." He answered.
Soon after, I saw the other man get up and leave. I jumped up and walked over to the bar, taking a seat next to the ginger-haired man. "I... I uh, I'm Mikey by the way." I said offering him my hand to shake. "I'm Patrick!" He said with a cheery smile. We shook hands, and he laughed lightly. "Nice to meet you." I saw him uncrumple the paper where my brother had girlishly wrote my name down with a little heart, and then my number.
He giggled. "If I didn't know who gave me this, I'd think someone named their fifteen year old daughter Mikey." He said with a smirk. I pretended to be offended before saying, "My brother wrote it." I examined the big, swooping "M" and the heart dotting the "i". I looked ashamed. "I swear that was my brother.
He laughed quietly, "I believe you." He assured me.
"Would you care to come for coffee with me tomorrow?" I asked him, leaning on my elbow. He laughed even more, and nodded, "I'd love to!" He said, and I pulled my phone out. He grabbed it from my hand, sliding it open, and going to my contacts.
He scrolled through the names, frowning, probably as he saw my brothers contact. "Gee Bear <3" was what it said.
"Gee Bear?" He teased as he began to type something in. "My friend." I told him. "Or, actually, my brother." I corrected. He laughed even more. "Why is your brother's contact name, 'Gee Bear' with a heart by it?" He choked out.
I laughed nervously as he gave me my phone back. I saw a new contact, "Patrick Stump". I smiled at him and examined the number. "I'll text you the details later?" I offered, before standing up, because my brother was also getting to his feet. "I have to go now though." I smiled at him, and walked away without waiting for a response.
"Goodbye, Patrick Stump." I said, walking out of the diner, and towards my car.
Gerard followed me, and opened the passengers door, sliding in the seat, and buckling himself up. I slid into the driver's seat, and buckled up as well. I started the car, and blasted the radio. I drove Gerard back to his apartment and let him out, before driving him myself. I quickly texted Patrick about where I was going to meet him tomorrow, before stripping my clothes and starting the shower.
