Cemetery Drive

I woke up to soft knocking on my bedroom door, I groaned in protest of being woken up but instantly silenced myself when I heard Gerard's light snoring. Without waking him up I gently got off of him and put on a pair of sweat pants and an old tank top, I guess this tank top was from before I got pregnant because it was tight on my stomach and it was extremely obvious I was pregnant. Anyways, I walked over to my door and opened it to find my mom at the other end.

"Frankie baby, can you please come downstairs? Your father and I need to have a word with you."

"Yeah sure." I said then quietly left my room and headed downstairs.

When I got down there my dad was sipping coffee and there was a mug for me. My mom sat next to him and I sat in front of him; my dad slid over the mug to me.

"Caffeine free tea." My dad informed me.

"Thank you." I said and took a sip.

"So son, Josh's trial is coming up. And there is a strong chance you may be called in to take the stand." My dad said monotone.

"Oh." I said then or the drink down and looked at my stomach, I brought my hands to where my baby is and softly rubbed it.

"Now Frankie, if they do call you in Josh is going to be sitting there watching you, but don't let that intimidate you, be strong and tell them everything that monster did to you. Don't hold back." My dad told me.

"Okay." I spoke in a small voice.

"Just think about when this is over and he's found guilty he'll be locked up forever and you'll never have to worry about him ever again." My dad said as encouragement.

"Forever?" I questioned.

"Yes baby forever." My mom said and rubbed my shoulders.

"I don't want him locked away forever, yeah I want him to be punished for what he did but he doesn't deserve forever." I told them.

"What do you mean baby?" My mom asked.

"I'll never forgive him for what he did to our first child and what he tried to do to this one, but I'll never be able to thank him for giving Gerard and I our first baby." I explained.

"What?"

"Gerard went down to the prison and got Josh to sign away his rights as the father and Gerard is in the process of trying to adopt the baby." I explained. "Plus there was a time, before all the beating and rapes, that he loved me and I loved him back. Plus think about it, if he spends all that time in prison what will happen to his mate? Will he or she think no one loves her or him? Will they end up dating someone who wasn't there mate and get into a relationship like how I was? I don't want to be the cause of that. I want Josh to be punished, but not forever."

"That's very selfless of you." My mom said.

"It is but I want that bastard in prison!" My father roared. "How dare anyone lay a finger on son and my grandchild and not pay for it!"

"Dad, he will pay for it. He's going to prison for a bit and he won’t see his child grow up." I told him.

"That's not enough! He needs to-"

"My decision has been made dad." I said cutting him off.

My father clenched his fist and looked away from me before quickly getting out of his seat and leaving the kitchen. A few seconds later my mother and I heard the front door slam and his car driving away. I felt tears prick my eyes as I wrapped my arms around my stomach and bowed my head.

"It's okay baby." My momma said as she came over to me and wrapped met arms around me and I slumped my head against her chest. "He's just upset."

"I know he's not happy but this feels like the right thing to do." I cried to her.

"Whatever you feel is right is right baby. Give your father some time and he'll come to realize that as well." She said and rubbed my arms.

I nodded and hugged her and just let her hold me. After a couple of minutes she let me go and kissed my head before I went back upstairs to where Gerard was still asleep in my room. I smiled at him before closing the door and climbing back into bed with him, I woke him up by accident when I cuddled into his side.

"Hey baby." He said with sleep evident in his voice as he leaned up and kissed me. "You've been crying, what happened?"

I sighed before telling him everything that my parents had told me, even what my dad had said and his reaction towards my decision. When I had finished telling him what happened I asked him what he thought about my choice.

"I do want to see Josh punished for what he did but you're being the bigger person and I'm very proud of you for that. I'll stand by your side no matter what." He told me then pulled me closer to him.

"Thank you." I whispered and let him hold me.
