The Bridge To Our Life
Asleep (The Smiths)
"Sing me to sleep
Sing me to sleep
And then leave me alone
Don't try to wake me in the morning
'Cause I will be gone
Don't feel bad for me
I want you to know
Deep in the cell of my heart
I will feel so glad to go"

*Frank's Point of View*
I must have fallen asleep listening to my Smiths record, because their music showed up in my dream... It was a strange dream... though I didn't exactly know how to describe it... It involved the fairy tales that my Grandpa Isaac used to tell me.
I was walking through the woods, completely unsure what to do with myself. I struggled to push through the undergrowth towards the sound of flowing water. In my dream I had broke two of the three rules set out for me. I was in the forest, and night was coming fast, and I was off the path, plus I was heading towards the river.
When I finally broke out into a clearing I saw a man sitting on a rock in the middle of the rushing water. His lips were moving, but I couldn't hear what he was saying.
The man was dressed all in black. Black shoes, really, really tight black skinny jeans that didn't leave much to the imagination, a skin tight black shirt, and a black leather jacket.
He had moppy black hair hanging in his face, half covering his piercing green eyes, he had dark circles under his eyes. He had very pale skin.
Slowly I walked closer, trying to make out what he was saying.
At some point I discovered he was singing, not talking.
"Sing me to sleep... Sing me to sleep..." Was he singing The Smiths? I snorted and then he was staring right at me. He giggled quietly and flicked a long, snake like tongue at me, and then bared his thirty two razor sharp, bloodstained fangs. I stumbled backwards, and bumped in to him, his tongue hitting my neck.
How the fuck had he gotten behind me?
As the moon started to rise over the tree's I turned around so I could see him. His skin was turning blue, and his veins were becoming a lot more noticeable... "Fledgling..." I whispered as his nails grew sharp and pointed. I took a step away from him.
Fledglings were horrible vampire-like creatures that killed anything that got in their way. They had two forms, a normal human form, and a 'Fledgling form'. They could change to this fledgling form any time they wanted, except for at night where they were stuck in that form until the moon was gone.
I saw his eyes glaze over red. "So you're not completely stupid..." He hissed. "Let's play a game, but tell me your name first."
"F-frank..." I stammered. It was a horrible idea to deny a Fledgling.
"Well, Frank... tell me, what types of powers do Fledglings have?" He was breathing down my neck.
"Teleportation, and immortality." I whispered.
"Good. I will be right here, waiting." He was sitting on the rock again.
"I'm tired and I, I want to go to bed..." His voice faded out as I woke up.
I opened my eyes groggily, and then there was a fist in my face. "Ow! Son of a bitch!" I shouted. He had already taken off down the hall way. I groaned, not giving him the satisfaction of the chase. I looked out the window... it was dark. I checked the time and smirked. It was three in the morning.
Time to find the river.
I got to my feet and walked out of my room, leaving my shirt on the floor by the door. I slowly walked down the cold stone steps, and down the marble hall way. I toed into my shoes, and slowly opened up on of the doors.
"Rule one, don't go into the forest at night. It's not night, so I'm not breaking any rules." I said with a quiet smile.
I closed the door almost silently and I walked out into the gardens, towards the edge of the forest.
As I drew near the line of the trees I saw a pair of red eyes staring at me. I blinked and they were gone.
A quiet laughter filled the air. Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck. My heart leapt into my throat as I inched towards the trees. I decided to stick to the path.
Maybe I could find the river by sticking to the path...
My head was spinning wildly. I was laying in the middle of the path, the was rising, but there was a shadow looming over me. "H-Hi Grandpa Isaac." I stammered. He didn't look happy. "Home. Now." He hissed, and then he pulled me to my feet.
"What was the first rule?" My Grandpa hissed. My Grandma set a cup of tea down in front of me. "Don't go out into the forest at night... but I left at two, so it wasn't night." I protested. He just scowled at me.
Ralph was getting a rise out of this, and I was about to punch him in the face, but I didn't because my Grandparents were there. "Wipe that smug grin off of your stupid face, before I fucking whip it off." I hissed in his ear. He glared at me.
"I'm sorry, Grandpa Isaac. I promise it wont happen again." That was a promise I knew that I couldn't keep. Especially because of that dream last night... It was so real. I shook my head and got up, "Am I allowed to explore now?" I asked quietly. My Grandparents looked at each other before they both nodded, "Yes you can go explore."
I smiled ad shot to my feet, running out of the house as fast as I could.
I walked along the trail, looking at everything around me. My hands were shoved into my pockets, and I wasn't exactly paying attention to where I was going.
I had been walking for a little over an hour, and I decided it would probably be best for me to head back home. I yawned and stretched before a quiet noise caught my attention. The low, quiet home of running water.
